What is all the fuss about body hair?

I'm the type of person that will only shave for a very special occasion. I must admit though these special occasions are decreasing in frequency lately.
While I notice there are more women who no longer feel the pressure of society but it is still a minority.
My questions to you are
1.Why is it that so many women are obsessed with removing body hair?
2.Why is it that many people feel it is a women's duty to remove body hair?

If its not my duty to remove unwanted body hair. Then whos duty is it. It's my preference to not want body hair. It's gross. I like too keep up my appearance and my hygiene. I don't want my man to feel that he is sleeping with a porcupine because of prickly hairs on the legs. That's just nasty. I also model here and there and I don't think the world would want to see a hairy model. Some people don't shave and thats their preference but I HAVE TO!!!! I don't shave I wax.

I find that shaving is more of a hassle and if you really think about it costs alot more than waxing. I pay $30 twice a year. And just thinking of how many times you need to get blades or shavers sure does add up to alot more than that. Yes waxing is not for everyone as alot of people say it hurts. I don't find that at all. I find its just like getting a tattoo. I have a high threshold for pain so it doesn't but me at all. How could waxing be a hassle when you just lay there?

Well when you put it like that it sounds pretty hassle free but then you have to make an appointment, go there, wait, blah , blah!
I just think it is sad that the world as you put it wouldn't want to see a hairy model.
While I am no model does that mean I am even less attractive for not removing my body hair

I have always been obsessed with shaving everything except my eyebrows and head..lol For me I just feel alot cleaner when I'm hairless. As for it being a "duty", I don't think that way. If I wanted to let it all grow a foot long, then so be it. I shave to impress myself and only myself.

I don't shave myself ever. It creeps me out and I feel like a little kid, rather than a woman.

If it's not my 'duty' then who's is it? Obsessed, no, but I do shave every day or every other day, for one I don't want my man feeling like he's sleeping with a porcupine or Grizzly Adams! and yes even in the winter when I'm wearing jeans all the time. I don't feel it's pressure from society, it's my personal hygiene and preference.

Thanks for sharing.
Perhaps obsessed was the wrong word, maybe I should have said fascinated.
I had a boyfriend once who tried to tell me I should shave on a regular basis for you.
I was 16 and still in school, he was a year or two older and working. I could not understand how he could tell me to shave my legs on a regular basis. In protest I stopped shaving, even then I didn't need much of a reason not to shave. I told him that I was saving up to get my legs waxed. Having an actual income he offered to pay for him. I politely declined and explained it was not an issue of money, I had to save the hair!
Two days after I dumped him I booked in to get the hair gone.

As a man I have absolutely no problem with women keeping their body hair. It's not as if they are going to grow beards if they don't shave. They really don't have so much that it bothers me. The expectation that women should have no body hair has been taken to an extreme with the relatively recent trend of them shaving their private area. I like women that are all natural when it comes to body hair, especially down there.

I confess I am less than religious about ditching body hair. I will say however that armpits do get less smelly when they don't have fur.

The legs have not met a razor in years.
