Have you seen the commercials for this season?

I was watching television a couple weeks ago, and this was the first time I'd seen a commercial for This season of American Idol, and it's appalling(sp?)It's so funny, but so very sad that even though it's commercial, you see people like that EVERY season! It's rather frightening. And ever since I'd seen it the first time, it never seems to go away. Why do people get on stage and humiliate themselves on national television? WHY?

Some of those freaks can not be made up--opening show comes from Philly and quite a lot of those pathetic folks actually believe that the weirder they look, the better chance of them getting on TV! Philly was the largest audition, but apparently Simon blasted them, saying that overall he was not impressed. I can't wait until Tuesday to laugh at my neighbors (I live over the bridge).
