Nowadays people marry on ice or marry on a beach. They marry on a tropical island and so on.... In the old they the only place to get married was church. So my question for all those who are not married (including me) where would you prefer to marry? I think for myself i would marry in church like everyone does well i think.when was younger i wanted to marry on a tropical island or on the beach. So how about you?

Actually if I could have, I would have had the fairytale wedding...big church, big gown, tons of flowers, lots of ppl and a huge reception. Both of my marriages were small and simple and that was fine. I'm just saying that like most girls I would have had one fairytale wedding. I read not too long ago about a couple that was getting married in a public restroom and her dress was made out of toilet paper. Sounds very tacky to me. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I'm one of those that don't like wearing a dress but I think if I was having a fairytale wedding I'd do it that one time long enough for the ceremony and then jeans at the reception. LOL Color would be hard b/c I don't have a favorite and white would be out LOL Probably something along a cream with pale blue or pale green flowers, I don't know. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Yes a fairytale wedding would be nice.I used do dream of that when i was a little girl haha but then again i think most girls would like to have a fairytale wedding.I keep dreaming i just for now. Really made of toiletpaper.I don't like dresses but if i marry i want to have a beautiful wedding. That's maybe an idea for another topic.Which colour of wedding dress or not a wedding dress, cause there are also women who don't marry in a dress.

Hi cosylvia, Also in holland i think it's impossible i thought we have a law against marrying outside the church. It is allowed to marry in an other country but in church. But it would be nice if the wedding is very romantic. When you want to marry in other ways than church it can cost a lot of money. But on the other hand it would be a day never to forget. Have a good day too....

I plan to get married at my uncles Victorian Bed and Breakfast. He has a lovely court yard as well. In the summer it's very beautiful.

I'm glad there are more options now than to marry in a church, as my vows would feel meaningless if I had to make them before someone elses deity. unfortunately in the England, wedding laws mean that you can't marry outdoors, and unless you are having a Christian church wedding, you can't include ANY spiritual content. which I find absolutely disgusting. I think all religions should get the same treatment in marriage laws. so I will be having my real wedding on the moors, in a stone circle we visit often, before my Gods. Earth below me, Sky above. then to do the legal paperwork we will have another ceremony, a civil ceremony, at a venue near these stones. this particular venue is an old slate mine where you can have a civil ceremony beside the underground lake. to me this is fitting symbolism. I see a wedding ceremony being a form of initiation, and like many initiation ceremonies, I like the idea of there being a symbolic return to the Earth and rebirth into the Sun again. I could never marry in a Church. it would be making a mockery of my vows.

Wow that's odd.I mean here in Holland it's totally differen.I go to a christian church but i probably will marry in catholic church where my mom married. But i think without being married you can be happy too.Or married in some other ways than in church you can be happy too.Well i think i will have to think some longer how i want to marry.

Learn something new every day. That's too bad. Outside weddings can be nice as long as the weather is good. I live in a popular tourist destination so just about every day at the beach you'll see couples getting married and taking pictures. I hope the laws change soon. It too bad to be so restricted.

I'm not religious so I don't attend a church to get married in. If I ever get married which is a big IF it will either be in a courthouse or outside.

it must be lovely to have the option of a legal ceremony taking place outside.

Yeah it must be great if it would be legimate to marry in every place you want to.Ofcourse not too extreme.I'm a bit religious but not too religious. So church is nice but marrying on a beach would be nice too.

I would prefer to have a small wedding, like immediate family, outside, then have a HUGE reception for the family. A friend of mine got married in Mexico. She really enjoyed it, but not everyone she wanted to go, could go.

Yes i don't want a big wedding too.Just with my family i think. Not with friends just the family. As the parents and the brother and sisters and nothing more. also it would be lovely then to have a wedding on a tropical Island.

That was probably the idea. People have destination weddings to keep it small because they know only the people who really want to or who are really important are the only ones who are going to come.

I am married, but i can still answer this question. I am happy with where we got married, which was a registry office...... the price is affordable and we didn't want a big wedding, we just wanted a simple wedding so we were married at the end of it. We only had abit of food for afterwards and we just had it at Joeys parents house, and then me and Joey just went out for the rest of the day and had fun. It wasn't a normal wedding that most people have, but it was how we wanted it to be. It was our special day, although it was ruined by the worst person in the world coming along and taking Joeys brother away from him for the whole day. It wasn't a surprise though because she pushes her way in and ruins everything and i just wish she didn't even exist. ~Joeys wife

I'm glad you got marry in the way you wanted.I just seen the movie license to wed.Men i don't want it to be like that, but the most beautiful wedding would be the wedding which you and your husband and vice versa wnt for yourself, not because others tell you how to marry . I'm sorry to hear that someone ruined your wedding day.I guess some people are selfish and never think of others getting married is expensive i'm glad there are also affordable ways to get married. Anyways thank you for your response in this topic. It gives als a different view for getting married.Especially to those who want a small wedding like me.

I want to elope and go overseas and marry in a registery office! I know it sounds tacky but I seriously don't see the point in spending thousands of dollars on one day when I could put that money towards an overseas holiday. I know every one has their own opinion but that's how I feel. I mean, at the end of the day the outcome is still the same-you're married, you have rings on your fingers and you get a certificate. To be honest, I want to be married in America by Elvis. My fiance isn't too happy about it but that's his problem!

I think you should have the marriage you want to and not how others want it.In this topic there's another MyLot member who responded and who's married and married at a registry office and they're happily married. So why not. You're righ it's a lot of money and why spending so much money. Its just one day in your lifetime.

I would prefer to marry at church because for me that is a proper site to bind the two person who have been in love under the matrimony of marriage with the blessing of God to His house.

I think marrying on a tropical island would be a blissful thing to do. In the wedding photos there would be waving palm trees, blue sky and a aquamarine sea. There might be a colorful display of beautiful flowers. The weather would be sunny and dry. All the guests would enjoy the friendly and fun atmosphere. Having the marriage ceremony on the sandy beach would be perfect.

It sounds great marring on a tropical island.I think it would be a beautiful wedding than having a wedding in my country where there's a big chance it will be raining. I will keep dreaming about a wedding in a tropical island. You never know maybe it will happen.

Marrying on a beach is really nice.In mars or the moon i never thought of that or in space at all.I wonder if that's every possible. Well i hope for you you will get married soon ;)

I still prefer to be marry in a church because i do believe that matrimony s a sacred sacrament n the church is the most sacred place than anywhere else.
• Netherlands

It's true marrying in a church is sacred. But it would be different if i 'm a christian and by boyfriend would not be religious.I mean i don't mind not marrying in a church but in my country it's not allowed to marry outside church.
