Over the kitchen sink

Sometimes when I eat, I stand at the kitchen sink. I know it's not genteel. However, it's convenient. I guess it's one of the things single people do more than those who live with others?
In a behavior modification class, I was told to always eat at the table with a nice place setting and to not do anythingelse while I was eating -- no reading, watching TV, etc. I'm not a poster child for the behavior mod class, for sure.
I NEVER eat in the car, unless it's an open can of cashews :)
What kind of eating habits do you have???

I haven't eaten at a dining room table in a long time. Most of the time when my fiancee and I eat diner we sit on the couch and watch tv while eating or one of us will be sitting here at the computer desk eating. We eat while in our car also haha so I guess im not a poster child either.

Hi again joyce. Our eating habits are pretty well set by now. We eat on tv trays in front of the television. LOL
I make it a rule though - once a week, come rain or shine, we set down at the table. I get out the nice table cloth and place mats, napkins and china and fix a real sit-down meal.
I would do that even if I was single because it kinda helps slow things down. Sitting down at the table makes us at least slow down the pace a little and gives us time to reflect, think and have ideas for change.
We only eat in the car when we go to Sonic or Dairy Queen. Anytime I don't have to cook and do dishes is a treat.

I don't stand at the sink but I do sometimes eat out of containers instead of dirtying a dish! LOL....if it's something I made a big batch of and froze when I defrost it I sometimes just heat it in the microwave and eat it out of that container! Living alone does make you do silly things when you eat. It's just not worth dirtying a dish I'll have to wash!

I guess if you live alone, you can do what you like because no one is watching. Neither will you need to really mind your eating manners. You can choose to eat holding a plate of food in front of the TV or sitting in front of your PC, standing in the kitchen, sitting on the floor or even have your meal in bed. But if you live with and have your meals with others in the same household, then obviously you have to eat properly, and observe some table manners.
In my household, we usually eat at the dinner table. It is a time for us to share the meal and socialize as well. As a Chinese, we have a communal style of eating where we will share the food that is cooked. These will be laid out centrally on the table, and we will take the food that we want to eat onto our dinner plates. So we can't have different people eating the way they like in different locations and settings during mealtimes. I find it is good to eat together, because it is one of the times the family comes together.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Sounds nice.
It's true that eating alone has caused me to comment to myself -- Good thing nobody's watching me eat. I just wouldn't eat with the same lack of manners as I do alone :)

Eating together can be an enjoyable experience, especially if the ones you eat with are your loved ones or your buddy friends. When I was a young adult, my father used to be the main cook. He made very good chilli crab, chicken rice, Chinese pork chops and pig's organ soup, and we really enjoyed our meals together when he whipped up these dishes.

I enjoy eating with people. We had meals around the table when I lived with my mother. And my father always cooked for us and we ate together... though we didn't have a dinning room table.
I love cooking. I really love cooking for people, so I'll take any chance I can to cook huge meals. Unfortunately my bf eats very little and at very eratic times (as do I). But I cook for us when ever I get the chance (we're also completely different in what we eat; I'm a practically a veggie he is very much a carnivore and hates veg).
I lived in a household with some Chinese students a couple of years ago. Coming into the kitchen at meal times was an experience. There would be about nine people, all gathered into a 4x3m room. Cooking was insane; one guy chopping, another at the hob, a girl washing up (there were lots of woks and things being used over and over) and another girl just bouncing around getting things people needed.
And the food was fantastic, I might add.

I couldn't eat at the sink; I like to be comfy when I eat. If we had a table for me to eat at I'd eat at the table... though I'd have the TV/radio on and read a book or have my laptop near by. I hate doing less than one thing at once and I don't like silence that much either.
As for eating habits; I love vinegar... vinegar on all my savoury food. I put salt on honeydew melon (go on, try it). I always eat three slices of bread with soup (except pumpernickle, then I eat two). Salt and pepper always goes in soup. I'll always have three biscuits. I'll eat half an iceberg lettuce with salt and vinegar as a snack.
Something my friends pointed out to me recently; I eat one food stuff at a time. If I have a plate of cauliflower, peas, carrots, potato and roast I'll eat cauli, then the carrots, the peas, potato and then finally the roast... always eat the protein last and the carbs last but one.

I also tend to eat one thing at a time...in no particular order.

i only drink soda out of a can.. i dont toast my bread i only warm it up in the toaster.. i wont eat pieces of tomato (the texture is just wrong) but i do love tomato things like pasta sauce and ketchup.. i put pepper on everything i eat.. i think eggs are more for lunch than breakfast (and should be with served with steak).. i also use salad dressings as hotdog/sausage toppings instead of the usual ketchup/relish/mustard etc.. i have plenty of eating habits i could list but ill stop there :D

Everyone thinks I'm a freak because I don't like fresh tomato but I love tomato products (the opposite for banana). I am so glad there is at least one other person in the world that feels the same!

Juicy fruit like melon as a snack I eat over the kitchen sink and I think this is allowed.
Otherwise I sit down and eat. I am single and cook whole meals for myself every day and enjoy them. Today I made porc roast and potatoes and red cabbage and a pudding for desert, laid the table and sat down to eat. I take good care of myself.
Happy mylotting!

Yeah, that's what I was referring to mainly...stuff that's juicy, where the sink is a natural drip catcher.
I don't eat sandwiches and other meals over the sink.
You cook! I microwave. LOL

I eat walking around. Maybe it's because I think maybe I'm walking it off as I eat it. I only drink Diet Coke not Pepsi and hate 2 liters. I never eat at a restaurant, even a nice one I order it to go.
