see, its a big thing with young people. some see it as a way to express them selfs through art and some see it as a way to rebel against mom and dad. i have peircings and tatoos, but most of mine, u cant see unless i move my clothes a lil or stick my tongue out. but my parents, my dad doesnt understand it, but my mom has tattoos and she took me to get my first one when i was 19. maybe he just wants to express himself.

Try coming back from being gone nearly 3 years with a pierced tongue and diamond in the nose and 2 new tattoos. Mom and dad were cool about it!! Now grandma on the other hand was upset. I am here 31 year old baby girl.: )

Yea, well try not to be so upset with him. Two of my cousins have them and they came home with them too they both were over 18 at the time. Their moms are fine with it now. Im 22 and I almost got one but changed my mind, having a sharp needle go through my tongue didn't excite me.

I dealt with my daughter's tattoos and ear piercings and belly button ring, but I'm not sure how I would have handled a tongue ring. I think they are so ugly and so defacing. I'm glad my son was never into those things at all.

i did the same thing to my mom, she was really strict. when i was 18 i got my belly button pierced. when she found out about it, she cried. i felt bad, but my mom always reacted like that to everything. lol

hahaha I did that to my mom when I was 18 . . .it was actually the day I turned 18. She always said me and my sister (twins) were never allowed to get our tongues pierced unless we were both 18 and out of the house. . . well, on our bday, we went, got them done, and hid it from her for a week!!! Then one day I was like" Hey Ma . . .wanna see something cool?!?!." SO my sister covered moms eyes and we both stuck out our tongues and when she opened her eyes I thought we were gonna die!!!! She LOST it . .. but it all worked out. I've had it in for the past 5 years:)

You are better just not reacting to it even though that will be difficult. If he doesn't get much of a response the chances are he will get sick of it himself. I'm ok with other piercings but I just hate tongue piercings - the thought of it gives me the creeps!!

you should not react to it all
