In winter I tend to get many colds. How about you? Do you know of some ways to prevent a cold?

I used to get many colds each year when I was young and in school. Now this doesn't happen too often. I take vitamin supplements, and try to avoid stuffy places when I feel a cold coming on. There's not much you can do other than that.

This year I have been healthier than ever and I think it is because I am not working with the public anymore. I also try to drink a glass of juice a day, this probably helps somewhat. As we all know the Vitamin C is good for us.

I have a cold body and any small change in the weather affects me and I catch cold. I try to keep myself warm always and avoid cold things like curd (yogurt), and other cold vegetables like cucumber etc. during winter.

I like to take a hot shower when I have colds, this really helps clear up my nasal passages. Does this work for you? Anyway, I have always been susceptible to colds and the flu. But I have discovered Virgin Coconut Oil and this is truly a miracle oil that they have branded it to be. I don't know if you have such in your place, but maybe try to look around in groceries or pharmacies. It does really well to keep my immune system strong. I used to always get infected easily whenever I encounter someone who's sick. I actually see the difference when I take VCO. They actually banned VCO before thinking that all saturated fat is bad. This one is they have found out exceptional, so they returned it back to market. It is beneficial for almost all diseases including but not limited to diabetes, especially HIV and even cancer.

I used to think I was quite a healthy person and may just have one cold per year. But this winter, I caught the cold twice within a month. At the earlier of December, I got a cold and recovered in a week’s time. I was over the moon as I could have fun during the Christmas. Unfortunately, I got a bad cold again on the New Year’s Eve that I was totally knocked down and stuck in bed. The experience was so bad that I don’t want to repeat it. Now I start looking after myself more than before, eat healthy and do more exercise. I will try not to get so closer to my daughter when she catches cold; otherwise she would past it to me. I will try not to work too hard, instead give myself 30 minutes to relax per day. LOL

I don't get many colds in winter. You have to make sure you keep warm and wear enough clothes. Besides, don't eat too many deep fried foods as it will be likely to have a throat problem. Whenever I have a throat problem, usually I will have a cold.

yes,I use to get colds and flu all the time until I discover that vitamin c prevented most of them.At first I thought it was a joke, but,it really works for me.When I feel the onset of a cold or flu coming on I take vitamin c tablets or I drink alot of orange juice. That alway seems to do the trick for me.

I get about 2-3(max) a year. They seem to be less strong than when I was at school. It generaly sums up to a blocked nose & tiredness. I used to hate & never eat garlic & onions, now I love them so I seem to keep the colds at bay! I think that you can really boost your immune system with herbal drinks, certain foods, wearing a scarf in winter (now I do mum!), drinking lots of water etc etc

Cold - Very prone to it.
I am very prone to colds and it lasts for sometime especially if I also get cough with it. There's a joke that my husband always says...he says I get the cold only twice in a year but it lasts 6 months at a time:(

I get sick all year round, I seem to have a weak immune system and just about every other week I find myself with a cold. I take alot of vitamins and wash my hands often to prevent colds but I still get sick I think the best thing is just to keep your hands clean to protect yourself.

I rarely get colds. Maybe one slight one a year while others around me get severe and frequent colds. I think it,s more good luck as I don't take any vitamins, and eat regular food.

I have blocked sinuses continuously throughout the whole year. I get colds quite alot in winter, but not usually as bad or as long as most people do. I think having continuous blocked sinuses throughout the whole year makes up for bad colds in winter though. The only thing i use to stop my cold from getting worse is putting vapour rub on before i go to bed when i have a cold. ~Joeys wife

Sometimes I think colds occur mainly because they are passed round by other people. So apart from avoiding contact with the outside world, it might be hard to prevent colds. however, I guess there is a point to building up our own body's immunne system. With vitamins taken daily etc. Fruits are a good source of immune boosting too. So I guess with a stronger immune system you can be exposed to other viruses and bacteria but not succumb.

I feel like I catch every cold out there and usually twice, lol. One year I took vitamin C supplements durning the winter and didn't get sick, that was while working in an emergency room where I used to catch all the colds and flus that were going around. It was the only year I didn't get sick. I stopped taking the supplement and since then often get cold (have one now). I don't know why I stopped and I always forget about it until after the cold season when it's too late to start taking them.
