We have 2 piggies in one huge cage. They get along great and have been together for at least a year. Both make lots of different voices...screeching when angry...purring when happy etc.. but yesterday the smaller of the two pierced her lips in a perfect circle and whistled like a bird!At first my husband even thought a bird was in the house!!!! She did it sooooo loud and when we picked her up she stopped. It was so funny! Have any of you had this experience?

Mine squeak when they heard any type of plastic bag; they automatically think that they are getting some kind of treat. You should check out OinkerNet, they have a HUGE guinea pig enclosure that you can watch on cams. Mine will purr from time to time or if you rub their back, they also popcorn around when they are happy or chatter their teeth when they are in a mood.

Mine do that too, they think every plastic bag is filled with veggies for them!

We used to have around 15 of them...yup, 15...they just seemed to appear everytime we turned around. They were such fun and Hubby just loved them. I loved to pet them but at the same time I was always afraid of getting bit. They could stir up quite a racket too. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Do you mean chirping? Very few guinea pigs chirp. I rescue/foster guinea pigs and have had over 100. I've had maybe 5 or so that chirped. It is a very odd experience if that's what you experienced. You can hear sound clips on www.guinealynx.info I believe, if they are still up.

Sounds like you mean chirping. I've heard it off and on by different pigs over the years.
