took you away... is that an old Deanne Warwick song?
anyhow, back to the intended topic:
Choose one of the following transportation vehicles and explain why you think it has changed people's lives -
a) automobiles
b) bicycles
c) airplanes
d) Trains
has the impact been beneficial in the long run? or would we have been better off without their addition?

Ok, I'll pick airplanes. I think they have been both beneficial and hurt us. They allow fast transportation for both people and goods but they have also added to the drawback of 'things moving too fast'. People don't take time to 'stop and smell the roses' and I think this has hurt us mentally and physically.

No, each mode of transportation has its place in history. I live in an area where things are still transported by train. It is cool to hear the train whistles. Planes are probably the best for quick arrival time and lack of wasted time traveling. Someday I want to do a cruise to experience travel by boat. I've done the train, it is over-rated, but you do get to see the countryside while traveling, which is cool. Bicycles, I can't balance one if my life depended on it. I have no center of gravity.
