I answered a post here yesterday that was about popcorn, ever since then popcorn has been on my mind! I finally made some this evening, and it was deeee licious! how powerful are food suggestions on you? be it from a television ad, a magazine or bill board ad, seeing or smelling the food, or having someone just talk about a food... does it ever preoccupy your mind until you go ahead and make or buy it? hamburgers mmmmm resees peanutbutter cups..... mmmmm. creamy, chocolaty, warm, savory, tasty, soup is so so good, the cheesiest - so many words to get our mouths watering and digestive system growling in anticipation which ones do it for you?

That's funny! I just saw a commerical for Honey Nut Cheerios and now I want some! I actually have a box, but it's not open yet and I want to finish some other ceral first, but I don't know if I'll be able to wait. And it's not a food I normally crave. Darn suggestive commericals.

I posted about this a few days ago but it's about commercials influencing you. My favorite is ice cream and when I saw one I actually wanted to have one! Luckily we had some in our fridge...

There was a discussion about the song with the lyrics we will, we will rock you. It was a couple days ago, and right after that, all the rest of the day I was singing that. In my head, AND out loud. I couldn't get it out of my head for the life of me!

""""FOOD"""" I have very little self control where most food is concerned so am very open for the power of suggestion - the other day a discussion here was angel food cake which I love but only allow myself once a year, for my birthday which isn't until April. Responses back and forth went different toppings (chocolate frosting for me please), to chocolate covered cherries, and on. My sweet tooth was going so rampant I ended up leaving the computer and makine peanut butter fudge the only 'sweet' we had all the ingrendiants for.... Now - Reeses Cups happen to be one of my all time favorites and I'll be thinking about them all day.

I might add on a more serious note - they have banned it now but years back movies would actually add 1 second, old films it would have been one frame, not sure how they work now with digital and all. But anyway - this 'clip' would be of popcorn, pop, candy, or hotdogs and when they were shown in the theaters people would actually get out of their seats in the middle of the movie and go to the consetion stand. They did all kinds of studies on this but it was like in a theater of 100 people 30 people would get up within minutes of that clip.

Wow, that is interesting! the drive ins still do the commercials for concessions during the intermission. and the announcer says hot buttery popcorn sizzling french fries pizza ice cold coke....all the while they show moving pictures of the food being served or eaten on the screen and the picture is so up close you see and hear that cola fizzing and see it spark out...

That's cute! We recently had a discussion about this in one of my major classes. Something about the effects of the media on human appetite. The example my professor gave was of the Mcdonald's burger. If you think about it, there's nothing great about that burger. Your mom or dad could probably make a better one at your home. But why do people still get drawn to it? It's the social status. Whenever we hear of the name Mcdonald's, we think of it as one of the best fast food chains in the world and then want a piece of it. So even if it's not that great, there's a feeling of something that'll make it rise a bit over the other places. Or something like that. It's hard to put into words. Hope you get my drift. I remember this one commercial about a chocolate wafer snack back then. It's called Cloud 9. I'm not much a fan of chocolates but when I saw the commercial, I wanted it so bad. The next day, I went to the store and got some. The wrapper was colorful too. But when I got around to tasting it, I was left very disappointed. I mean, it was perfect on the outside, but seriously gross on the inside. ugh.
