Do you get an annual raise from your place of employment?

I currently work at a nursing home and every year we have a chance to get a 3% raise if we are doing a good job. You might get less if you have a high call in rate or if you aren't doing everything that is required of you. This year they said our workmans comp spendings were 2 high and they are not giving any raises to anyone at this time even if you are an excellent employee. I am wondering if anyone has any advice on what I can do to change this or if this is legal and there is nothing that can be done? Thanks for any info.

We have inventory every Feb. We all get an evaluation and a raise then. But usually only $.25. I am hoping for a bit more this year since the girl below me got promoted to the same position and is making almost as much as me. I have been there 2.5 years and I think I deserve to make more than her, since she hasn't even been there 6 months yet.

Unfortunately unless you were hired in with a contract there is nothing you can do about it. Depending on what state you live in you may have at will employment, so be on the defense. If your company isn't giving raises because of losses there may be layoffs coming soon..
