Should I change my avatar???

Me from another angle - Should I use this one instead? You can see the ponytail. I look a little more feminine. Is this better?

For those of you that don't know and can't tell from my picture, I AM A WOMAN!!!! I have been getting a lot of responses lately, not only from here, that indicate that people think I am a man. Can people not see the red lip gloss that I have on?!? I know that its not intended, but this is starting to hurt my feelings. Do I look like a drag queen or something? What is wrong with my pic? Should I change it MyLot? Let me know.

I agree with Debs_place. The pic is just so small it doesn't show clearly. To me it looks like a young girl (16 perhaps) or an older lad *ducks* The second picture is very nice though (it caught my attention for this thread). If it's bothering you so much change it. At least you have you're own pic... I hate my own pictures.

I think I will change my avatar, I just wanted to get an opinion on it before I did. I'm glad you think I look so young, you add another 10 years on that and you got my age lol. I think a lot of this has to do with me looking a lot like my sperm donor (doesn't deserve to be called dad) The couple of times we have stood together, we looked like twins.

Now that you mention it, I look like both parents. It just depends on which I am around. I think I look more like my sperm donor unfortunately, but when I go out with my mom, everyone thinks that I am her sister. By the way, I love the "L" Avatar pic. I missed DeathNote this week *Sniff* I think the replay is tonight though so I will see it then.

it is odd that girls can look so much like their male parentals. I look so much like my dad (and I'm a girl) that I can walk through his old neighbourhood on my own (and I didn't grow up there) and people will ask me if I'm his daughter :-S

I will admit, I thought you were a man, the avatar is very small and it looked like you had very short hair, I did not notice the length in the back. I would not worry, if you like your avatar go with it, if you are not happy change it. I do like the picture that you have attached. IT definitely shows that you are not a man.

I guess I didn't realize that. I have the full blown pic staring at me each time I come in here, I forget the only one who sees that pic is me. You can see the ponytail around my right shoulder, but the pic you guys see is so small, maybe all you are seeing is the slicked part up top. This isn't the only place I have had someone mistake me for a man. I train people in internet marketing over yahoo messenger, where I have the same pic. Its a little bigger there, but one of my trainees kept calling me a dude. Its a little embarrasing.

Is this your avatar or have you changed it already? If this is your present avatar, then its very clear that you are a woman. I had no problems in understanding that, specially with your hair gathered and tied up high in a ponytail. Bu as you know, there are different kind of weirdos around and if you are comfortable witht your avatar, no reason why you should suddenly change, just because someone could not recognise you for what you are.

Thank you for the vote of confidence, but I have already changed the avatar. Like I said before, I went through school being called all sorts of names (my awkward stage lasted from Kindergarten til about 10th grade) And being mistaken as a man just brought back bad memories. I think I will stick with this one for a while.

I remember that the first time I came across your post, your avatar was different and not a photo of you. But I know that you're a woman, because of your username -drknlvly. The latter words lvly, which means lovely already states your gender. 'Guess that's one of my best characteristics, interpreting and logically analyzing what and who you are!;)

BTW You don't have to change it just because they don't know you or for other's sake, change it because you love doing it!;)

Yeah, that was when I was using the Sailor Moon pic. And I guess that, despite my thinking, most people don't try to figure out names.

I think your picture looks fine.If you want to change it though that up to you.Their is people that call a woman a man and they can see clearly that it is a woman.Your very pretty so just ignore other ignorant people that choose to not pay attention.

I think both of your photos are fine. The current one is much better since you are smiling in that pic :).If you want to change its up to you what you like. For me ,any photo with a smile is a good one.

I can't help but smile in all my pictures. I even smile in my ID Photos. My hair was an absolute mess because I started to curl it, then got lazy, so it didn't want to lay right. But I still beamed the lady at the BMV a big one for my pic. I don't know, its just habit. Even though I wanted to be serious in this new Avatar pic, I'm still smirking a little.

Well, I can't make out the lip gloss but I can see the hair and I had no doubts about you being a woman. the important question here is do YOU think you need to change the pic? If so, please do...don't do it just because someone couldn't tell you are a woman from the pic. If you are happy with the pic, then let it stay.

I already changed it. Maybe I should have waited. But I changed it because I was tired of being called out of my gender. The previous pic didn't show my hair as well, just the slick part, which could have been mistaken for a short hair cut.

You don't look like a drag queen - you look like a female. I personally think you should change it though just for safety reasons but then I'm paranoid! I don't advise individuals to use photographs that show them clearly.

Thanks for looking out for me Art, but I don't think I am interesting enough to stalk. I don't mind showing my real face. I have been on national TV before, so this is nothing.

I don't know why others think you are a man. It is obvious that you are a nice girl from your avatar. It is not so necessary to change it. Be proud of your avatar. If you change your avatar, I am afraid some of your friends can't recognize you.

I don't see it either, but you posted this after I finally went ahead and changed my avatar anyway. I took this the same day that I took the other one, its just a different pose. They should be able to recognize me, and if they don't, they should remember the name.

I think people just do not pay attention to the avatar. If they did they would know.I would not let it bother me.I never pay attention to that part of a discussion.I just look at the dis- cussion and go from their.

A lot of my friends here at Mylot said the same thing, even before I changed my avatar. There really were only a few that thought I was a guy before I changed my pic, but I still didn't like the idea that people thought it. I went ahead and changed it.

I'm always being called 'man' or 'dude', but not here... thats funny because this is the only place where I have a decidedly male avatar! I have some really girly ones on other sites... and thats where I hear it the most. There isn't a thing wrong with your pic... people need to open their eyes and pay attention to the fact that they're talking to a real person, rather than just posting or commenting for the big bucks!!

I guess they don't think you are a male here, because they can see the lipstick. I don't know why you would be called a male with such feminine pics elsewhere, but I am glad it doesn't bother you. For me it took me back to a place that I didn't want to go again. I changed my pic yesterday because of that.

Personally, I loved your first picture that you used for your avatar. I didn't think you were a guy hon. I also like the one you are using now....very nice. Sometimes I think people are blind and see only what they want to see. And if someone had questions as to your gender, they should have gone and checked your profile page....you'd think that would be the logical thing to do. LOL!

Actually, when I saw your avatar before reading the discussion I was surprised that anyone thought you were a guy. I guess it's b/c I've never seen a guy with cheekbones like yours LOL I also noticed the ponytail. Maybe it's that girls tend to notice more things like that then guys do. I'd say put whatever you are comfortable with. I don't like how I photograph so I don't put pics of me up very often. Good luck working it out!! **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Maybe I should have waited to change my avatar until I was finished with this discussion. The one I had before was from the front, where you couldn't see the length of my ponytail. I went ahead and changed it because people calling me a guy takes me back to school, where I was ridiculed constantly. I really don't like thinking about it, so I changed the avatar.

Changing of avartar, I am neutral as my personal opinion about avartar is just an identification. For your picture, you look like a teenager girl. As the picture is rather small, so ppl may have wrong perception. No worry, you look fine.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm also having identity difficulties with some members thanks to my avatar (yea still happening... -_-). Hope that got you a chuckle. I think nothings wrong with your photo. If you want it up you should keep it.

I know its silly for me to be worried about what people who I will never talk to in person think about. Like I have said several times in this discussion, I was ridiculed a lot in school, and I let these people get to me because of it. I went ahead and changed the photo to another I had taken that same day, so I wouldn't get any more of those comments. I guess I took the easy way out /embarrassed. Oh, and yeah, I did get a little chuckle out of your post when I first saw it.

I got to admit, first time I saw your avatar I thought you were a guy too. It took me awhile before I realized that you are woman.
