how to get work in Oil and Gas camps

I live in Canada and I have heard of people going up north and out west working in different types of camps in the fields of oil, gas and logging and things like that. I am very interested in doing something like this, but I am unable to find any information. I heard that some of these camps pay for your transportation to get to the camp and as well pay for your food and lodgings on top of your regular pay. Does anyone know anything about these types of camps? I would love to go up north to work, but I cant afford the transportation.
