Yes, to be honest, a lot of things have changed, and as a citizen, even I am quite suprised to notice a lot of changes, LOL ..I haven't been to Australia, hope to visit your lovely country someday ..

Hi,
nice to meet you, I just saw this discussion on your profile, and I find it a great way to get to know the friends added to your profile (and some other not added yet, also).
I am Italian, same age as you. I've studied Chinese at University and I'm still studying now, in order to become a Chinese language teacher here in Italy.
I love travelling and making new friends. I like it when people from different backgrounds share opinions on the same subject, it gives you the idea of what really "different point of view" means.

I'm not really new, here on mylot. I actually signed a few years ago, I don't kkow how and why, but I didn't "use" it at all. I didn't understand how it did work and didn't pay much attention. A few month ago, though, I came back here again, in order to decide whether to withdraw or not, and I discovered a quite amusing world. So here I am almost everyday now, reading, and writing sometimes. Not earnin so much, but quite enjoyng myself in the process.

i'm quite amazed to find the discussion you started back when you were probably a newbie is still being responded until now... and you've made more than 1100 mylot friends since. that really is great.
i'm myles from the philippines. not as fairly active in mylot as i want to be due to my freelance work and setting up my own business. so i make do with communicating with a few mylot friends over ym chat. and one of them i have just met about 4 weeks ago. perhaps another one next month. i like making friends, too, and keeping in touch outside of mylot. i believe... how i am in mylot is basically the same me outside of it.
i've been to sg several times but only to stay briefly like 1-2 days before i move to another country of destination. in mylot, i've encountered several very nice people around. and i'm sure you've met some of them already.
let's all enjoy our stay here. and see you around.

i think, in one of my past lives (if the concept really does exist) i was a novelist or writer. 
though of course, one can't be fairly sure of it... ever. hehe
i like to read a variety of stuff, so i guess in a way it has improved my writing skills. but i don't write professionally. more like an occasional hobby for me... whenever i'm all by myself.
the stuff i usually write about at work are more technical outputs and project reports in nature. i did a short stint in article writing and re-writing... just to give it a try... and i liked the experience. i even tried a writing task for $4 in mylot before. again just to test myself if i can do it. and i did and it was wonderful. however other work and family activities have kept me quite busy the last several months.
what kind of material do you usually write about? i've always been fascinated to meet writers and those with a passion for writing.

I hope I will always be able to participate here and share the joy with the rest, you included. You are right; here is a sort of portal for us all to walk the talk and share ideas, problems, give advices and whatnot. You've got it right; not by profession, but as a hobby. A very dear hobby that I like so much. Are you a writer too? You sound like one too; judging from your great answers.. So you are a cool mom to a (I'm sure) cute 4 year old erm, daughter or son, if you don't mind? And congratulations.... so your child is going to have another sibling soon.....that's just so2x cool.
You are right; here in the lot, you can tend to get very2x distracted, so I'm giving a gentle warning. If you are supposed to rest, do get some rest and forget the lot for a bit... it has happened to a lot of people and it's called addiction to mylot..

Thank you. Oh, I did neglect to say what my kid(s) were, eh? I have a 4 year old daughter and a son on the way . . . we will get one of each!! My hubby and I have always lived in Cali . . .so this is all we know! How is it over yonder? Yes, I am supposed to get rest . . . but myLot is the perfect place to rest - hee hee. I can plop my body on the chair and just let my fingers do the walking . . . or discussing, I should say. Hee hee! Well, I better get off myLot for now, well, ok, I'll go find just one more discussion to answer to - hee hee.

What up Zed? I am Jody and I hail from the great State of Maine, USA. We have lots of wildlife and forest. I love Maine's four season's the most. We are having Autumn right now, which is my favorite season. I love to watch the leaves change colors. On a drive yesterday I drove under a canopy of golden leaves and it was majestic. I must say that I am looking forward to the winter snow storms. I love going outside and playing in the snow. It is wonderful though, when Spring comes and the flowers start to bloom and the grass changes from brown to green. Summer hear is rather cool until about August. We find great activities to do in the sunshine and love to hike and camp and fish.
There are so many animals here to sit and watch. I remember when I was young and a baby bear was hanging out on the soccer field. One of the great activities we did as a child was go to the old dump to feed the bear. We would sit for hours in the car and watch this big black bear eat.
I grew up on the largest lake in Maine. Moosehead - 40 miles long and 22 miles wide. We always had something to do no matter what the season. I grew up with 2 older brothers and they had a club, the monkey mischief club. They had only one real rule, no girls allowed. They continually convinced me to do things in the outdoors and said I would be in the club if I did it. I remember them taking me into the woods with a blindfold and running off in opposite directions. I had to find my way home. I think I was seven or so.
My town was very small. The graduating class was only 18 people. Many of the kids I grew up with still live in town and work in the woods for paper or logging companies, or in the service industry catering to tourists.
I moved to the coast of Maine and live near the Ocean. The Maine coastline is very rocky and has some amazing peninsulas to explore. We also have part of the Appalation trail and there are some amazing hiking trails all over the state.

First of all, thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for coming to this 2 years ago discussion... I really appreciate mylot friends whom have managed to dug up some of my very old discussions, which I don't remember exists...
Secondly, when I read about your childhood days, and about your hometown, the place where you grew up and live etc... I get the impression that you are a pretty outdoor lady, which is so cool. Lots of ladies nowadays are very indoor-types and you aren't.... awesome.
So you live in a small town...I've heard of Maine definitely, though I've never been there.... so are there crimes over there? I mean, are the number of crimes there low compared to big city areas..?

hi zed I am a senior citizen who lives in Southern California
with my adult son. I am a female and used to work in our
local library, and before that most of my adult life
I worked as a nurses aid in several hospitals for years
before having two children. I love to mylot specially now I
am retired and have lots of time on my hands.
