reincarnation, karma?

I was having a conversation with a friend the other day about all this. She believes that if your bad in this life you pay in the next. It got a bit heated, i don't agree, or see what the purpose would be? if you have no knowledge of your past life how can you be punished for it??!!

I am the collection of my experiences, thoughts, emotions, etc. Had these been different I would undoubtedly have been a different person. That I should be punished, or rewarded for the actions of a person in a previous life is unjust, and such a system is only compatible with an evil god. Not only that but this kind of belief structure supports the great evil of the caste system in India where 60 million people live in near slavery, denied the basic freedoms others take for granted; freedoms the privileged enjoy by the labours of the oppressed. Furthermore, there are no authenticated past life recollections All the best urban

THere are a couple of religions (Hinduism, Buddhism) that believe you are reincarnated and made to either suffer or be rewarded for your "past life". Although I'm not a believer in reincarnation, I do believe in karma, although maybe not to the extent of where it catches up with you in the next life.

Aren't they the ones where they believe you may come back as anything, insects etc? So they take great efforts to not kill anything? I like to think that what goes around comes around, but like you in this life!! But, bad things happen to good people, and visa versa
