Are you looking forward to Valentines Day?

Not looking forward to it! - valentines day

I'm definately not looking forward to Valentines Day for two reasons. I would have sent my mom a big card and bought her flowers and now that she is gone I won't be doing that. She used to decorate the wall outside of her apartment just like all of her neighbors and I don't have that to look forward to any more. Since I now have all of her decorations they will now be on my door and walls and bringing back all of those memories. Not to mention that I don't have a special someone to look forward to receiving a card, flowers or chocolates from and it's a very depressing thought at this time of the year. I know I'll get cards and chocolates from my kids but that's quite different although I will appreciate it immensly.' Are you looking forward to Valentines Day? What goodies will you be getting and who will be giving them to you? Do you give someone cards and gifts?

I won't say I look forward to Valentine's Day, but I do know I have to get flowers and present for my gal... I think that is sort of standard things to do on every Valentine's Day

You must be a sweetheart to get your girlfriend flowers and present. I hope she appreciates you.

Hello ctrymuziklvr. Im sorry to hear about your mom. As for myself, I always look forward to Valentines Day. Eventhough I dont have a special someone at the moment, Valentines Day always brings a smile to my face. During Valentines, we decorate our house with hearts and cupid pictures and flowers for the table. My mom gave me a heart shaped pillow and doughnuts that are in a heart shaped container. Last Valentines day I gave my friend a heart shaped pillow. This year, Im not even sure what to get them. Maybe a card will do.

I think cards always say what we want to say but can't if you know what I mean. I know they sound sloppy and sentimental but isn't that how you really feel?

Yes, they may sound corny and too sentimental by others but, it really shows how much you care for your loved ones.

I am looking forward to Valentine's Day. I have a plan worked out for my wife, an entire day of hanging out. Of course, since it's on a Thursday this year, I am going to take her out on the Saturday after. Valentine's Day is something that should be everyday if you have someone you love, but I do like the fact that I have an excuse to take a day and do something especially nice for my wife. Sometimes it's hard to fit something in, but this kind of day is always good. It's going to be a fun day I think.

hmm..i hvent celebrated valentines for the last 3 years in my life..its an ordinary for me..why? because im broken hearted and i admit i envy my friends who's able to go out and have fun on that day...also, my parents is not that vocal to expressing their feelings, may it be through cards or dinner... the main reason also behind is that, i had a bad memory on the day itself..its my way of forgetting what happened that day.

My heart hurts for you ctrymuziklvr. I know it will be a difficult day for you. I know, when I lost my Mom, every holiday was hard for a while. My husband and I don't really celebrate Valentines day all that much. He usually gets me some flowers or a plant and I write him a poem.

Oh yes, it's going to be a tough one to get through this year and for years to come but I'll get through it. I love the idea of the poem you write for your husband.

I decorate cookies in a cake shop and holidays are the worst. Valentine's day is one of the busier holidays for cookies so I am definitely NOT looking forward to all of those decorated cookies! LOL After writing "love you, be mine, oh baby, be sweet, be my love, too sweet, too cute, UR hot," etc. on hundreds of cookies, you WANT to write, get lost, kiss off, who cares! LOL

Hi ctry,...I feel very bad for you, I'm really sorry you're hurting. I have an idea for you. Since you are going to put up all your Mom's decorations for Valentine's Day in memory of her, why don't you just buy a small bunch of flowers and a card for your Mom anyway and put them on your table. Write your Mom a small note in the card, seal it, and put it next to the flowers. She'll see it all, guaranteed, just like she'll see the decorations....and you might feel a little better...............take care, hon.

We don't celebrate the day anymore. We have become old fuddy duddies. I wish we still celebrated it. About 12 years ago I still celebrated it. When I first started going out with my now hubby, I used to buy him a stuffed animal or toy of some type. One year I bought a guy dressed in a baseball suit and had written on the back of his shirt, I love you, happy valentines day. Another year I bought a big heart that said I love you this much, with the arms stretched out. But it has been about 10 years since I bought him anything. He has never bought me anything because he has never celebrated those things. I think I will go buy him some stuffed animal again. Thanks for making me remember that memory, we tend to forget them till some one talks about them.

I am so sad for you. I just had a partner last november and we are still so much in love and happy on our relationship. I am really looking forward to it, I want to give my partner a simple card that I made myself and maybe we could meet up early in the morning and eat to a 24-hour convinience store and fast food since we still have a work ahead and we dont want to bump to everyone having dinner at night,

well,I've never looked forward to it,bacause I have had a girl to stay with me. That doesn't mean no one likes me or i am a bad boy. ON the contrary, many girls have ever liked me, even some of them approach me actively. But I didn't cherish these opportunities and that made me regret for a long long time. Now i am much older, there are less and less nice girs appearing. Though there are some nice girls appearing, them don't like me. whenever I try my best to stay with those whom i don't like very much in order to cultivate affection with them, but I just find it very hard to have feeling to them. I know one of the main reasons is that i am introvertive and chicken, but my fate is the most important reason.

It's just another day for me. My husband rarely gets me things on special occasions (like our anniversary, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, my birthday). I'm used to it. Although last year he surprised me on Valentine's day and let me sleep in and when I got up (after prodding from the kids) he had flowers and a pretty mug filled with those mini Hershey's kisses. I think that was the firs time he actually got me anything for Valentines and we had been married for 7 years at that time. I'm not expecting anything from him this year. He didn't get me anything for our anniversary earlier this month and never even opened the card I got him (don't know why).

I'm sorry about your mom and the holidays. I am looking forward to Valentines Day. I receive a card and a gift from my hubby and son, and I make cupcakes and a special dinner. I also give my family including my granddaughters a card and a little gift. Love all around.:)

Sorry about your loss Ctry. As for myself, I'm not looking forward to the day. Well, basically the "season" is here. I've been seeing a lot of agony inducing posts, articles, forums about it (some of "love", many others of expectations, some on what they are going to get only)
