Wouldn't it be wonderful if the Bible really was God's Holy word!

God's Holy Word might start like this:
In the Beginning,49 billion,329 million,705 thousand,. . . years ago God created Heaven and Earth. What a help this would be to scientists who need someplace to start their research! Then I'm sure God would want to clean up the Old Testament so teenagers could read it with out getting sinful ideas, like getting the Father drunk on new wine so his daughter could jump in bed with him. After that a Chapter on Homosexuals would be in order. Like why did God create them in the beginning and why is He still doing it? Then we need to know more about Abortion. We know that God, (not the Parents) create each new Life, but God does not seem to mind if the child is aborted. Another problem that needs to be answered is why God spoke to his people thousands of years ago. He came down to a Mountain and Hammered out a set of stone Commandments. What a piece of work! He was willing to do it then, but He won't do it now? Also is there such a thing as God's Chosen People in the Present? Why would God show favouritism in ancient times and not show it Now?
God!- He won't do or say anything anymore!
I'd appreciate a positive response please.

We could write a new one for everone to debate & fuss about.
Chapter 1
In the begining the Great Omnipotent Diety ( GOD ) saw the emptyness of the universe & through his will & with a large explosion spread all matter & energy across it.
Billions of years later on an insignificant speck of a world on a far flung corner of this universe the GOD shaped some of this matter & energy into life. Once formed this life followed it's own destiny & development. Eons later this life had evolved into many species & forms. These continued to change, many fell into extinction others including Humans came to dominate the planet. From there everything went downhill.

Well, ok not everything. However as a general specias we have forgotten how to live with nature without destroying it. We're not improving our world, we're making it more comfortable for ourselves at the cost of the rest of the planet itself.
We've also turned our attempts to understanding the G.O.D. into organized religions which we've fought & killed each over.
As a whole , not a positive impact.

I like your Chapter One until you get to the Humans. Do you really think Humans have taken it All downhill? My feeling is that Humanity is Cruel to Humanity. For instance look at Dogs. There are Hundreds of Varietys of Dogs on earth today that weren't even dreamed of 100 years ago. (Humans are good to Dogs)
My point being, Not everything Humans touch, goes downhill!

You expect that god to make sense!
He put a forbidden tree in the middle of the garden when he could have easily placed it somewhere else or just not created it at all.
He flooded the entire earth just to wipe out humanity which he should have been able to do with a single thought & left the rest of the planet intact.
He decided that the only way we could be forgiven of OUR sins was if we killed the only person without sin.
What kind of twisted logic is this?

This is not a positive response. You are teaching God. Do what you want and God will not interfere with you. God has laid down His doctrines, you may or may not obey Him, that's up to you. He is talking through the Holy Bible and so He is telling you so many things. God is not dumb, you just don't like to understand. It seems that you know a lot of things but you lack more than what you know.

Most enjoyable read barehugs! God as a landlord would have been sent to the courts for not looking after his abode and the tenants living under his roof. Then again as a landlord perhaps he would have done well to serve a mass eviction notice many many years ago.
You know it is not beyond the realms of intelligent people to ponder whether we are actually in the right place. This is afterall the ANIMAL kingdom and whilst we share the majority of our genes with animals, we are afterall not supposed to be. Our spiritual nature suggests we're not supposed to be acting in such primal ways as we still seem to do. Did we land on planet earth by mistake. Is this just a big cosmic mistake, we took the wrong turn at Mars and should have dived through that black hole in Andromeda and entered another sector of the universe?
That book of which you speak has caused allot of ill-ease (disease) over the years and I for one would like a better explanation than has been previously given. I don't believe the bible is God's word. It is a human interpretation of what the writers understood to be The Way Back to A Divine Existence. And as we have more in common with ANIMALS than Devine spiritual consciousness we suck big time at understanding and following Devine Principles.
God just asked me to say that. We're friends by the way, thought you'd like to know that, spoke to it last week in fact, says to say hi and for you not to forget to do your asannas. Is impressed with your lotus position, very well done.

Hi barehugs, There is much that is good in the Bible, but there is also much that is ridiculous. I'm not sure that I agree with you though, if God were always telling us what to do, and we knew it was God speaking, wouldn't we be like puppets with God pulling the strings? Having all the answers just for the asking sounds pretty boring too. Blessings.

"In the Beginning,49 billion,329 million,705 thousand,. . . years ago God created Heaven and Earth. "
Serious answer:
Estimates put the age of the Universe at 13 billion years. The age of the Earth itself is about 4.5 billion years. Then again, its all on some observations, calculations and theories. We could be wrong. I'd also wonder if God or Creator(s) do indeed monitor things. Its possible, but then again its more faith than fact. There is also the issue of why one would spread a holy word(and possibly "perfect" word)...and the issue of can sentient beings(in this case humans) really understand it. If it was perfect, it would have a guide of how to live and if it was too perfect, a core aspect of life (learning and growing) would be completely changed... possibly irrelevant.
Silly answer:
Pfft, Barehugs, everyone knows that the universe started in another reality 500 quadrillion years in the future. Other theories place this universe as being in a line of other old yet extinct universes.
