MyLot has the worst profile editor! I was shocked by how terrible it is. A profile editor should be self-explanatory and self-intuitive. I don't consider myself particularly dumb... it just took me a long time! I think it should be simple and have more options. We know from the popularity of Facebook and MySpace that profiles are popular and entertaining. myLot has the worst profile editor I've ever seen! Let's give suggestions: How can myLot improve their profile editor?

They could make the stupid HTML sortie thingy work right, I have a bio written out and formatted nicely with html tags and everything and the damn thing won't work :( I've tried in opera, safari and firefox and still had the problem! I brtcha it works fine in stinkin IE though...

Nope, it doesn't work right in IE either. I modified mine with IE some months ago. After several attempts I was able to open and edit ONE sortie. Don't even ask me how long it took to modify the whole thing! :P But I was successful in changing it the way I wanted it. I haven't touched it since. LOL

I dont think mylot functions as a social network website, thats why the profile is not that important..its just the questions n' other stuff..it prolly has to do all sorts of computing to keep up with the discussions and whatnot, so let the profile editor be as it is. Lol..peace and harmony to all.

when adding interests n' all the site primarily shows you the relevant discussions for easy access and not the users. So, in my eyes this place is made for discussions and not for parading oneself, hell! anyways theres an abundance of social n/w such as Myspace, Facebook & of course Orkut. Seriously man, i hate writing those 'about me' columns etc.

It seems very much like a social network. Adding interests and friends qualifies it as a social network.I think it needs to be more user friendly and then maybe more people can enjoy its benefits. I like making friends but it's so easy on MySpace and Facebook!

I agree it is difficult and confusing. I think they need to get rid of the HTML - a lot of people know very little or no HTML. I know a little and I have made changes ot my profile page, but, I have also messed a couple of things up and there are things I would like to do; but, I haven't figured out how yet.

I have to agree. It is not user friendly. I had a heck of a time changing my profile around, even after I found a discussion on how to do it. It's not that I didn't understand the instructions, but rather when it came to me trying to open and edit the sorties. It wouldn't let me modify it and it took several tries for each one. But I eventually got it to were I want it and I've kept it this way ever since. :) For those who may be interested here is the link to the discussion that helped me with my profile: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/945034.aspx I hope this helps! :)

I for one, have no idea how to change my profile. I have resorted to just adding links to those boxes or "sorties" I think they are called. I have seen some really well done profiles but I have no idea how they did it.

Look at my response (#6). If you are having trouble with your profile maybe it will help you. :)

I also wish it becomes better some day. I gave up on adding pictures and html links to my profile a while ago, because it takes a crazy lot of time and there is no guarantee you will be happy with the result.
