Who thinks chocolate is over-rated?

Everyone seems to love chocolate but why? What's so amazing about it? I'm not saying I don't like it I'm just fascinated why it's just excepted that chocolate is delicious, a bit like music. People take music FAR too seriously and that's one of the things that put me off it. The same seems to occur with chocolate; everyone likes it (with soom exceptions). Why can't everyone be obsessed with carrots and broccoli? What make them less nice? I suppose it's probably the sugar that's addictive.

Sugar has nothing to do with it, sir. My favourite chocolate is Lindt 99% (only 1% sugar). There are chemicals in sugar that act on the brain's pleasure receptors. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chocolate#pleasure_of_consuming It is generally accepted that people like chocolate because the vast majority of people do. whilst I like veg, what do carrots and broccoli have to offer to the pleasure centres of the brain?

Oh right. That's interesting. It would be great if vegetables were as popular as chocolate or even if more people ate the stronger stuff which is actually more healthy.

Well I didn't really mean to emply that people merely claim to like chocolate, it's more that it's such a minority that doesn't.

Yes of course lot of people love to eat chocolate and it is not over rated. But to some people is not healthy because it have a lot of sugar. I love chocolates because of the taste that will last inside my mouth. I love chocolate because it will give a strength while in my work. Sometimes, when I feel stress and bored, I used to eat a chocolate candy to ease my stress feeling and my boredom.

I don't think chocolate is over-rated, but I can see where you're coming from. Chocolate was always a stress-reliever and a treat for me (even though I ate it constantly). My face would always break out, but I didn't care as long as I could have my chocolate! I love every kind there is. Unfortunately, I found out six months ago that I'm allergic to the cocoa, which is the main ingredient in chocolate. I seriously thought my doctor was joking! I couldn't believe my ears when he repeated himself. So...I definitely don't think it's all that bad. Sometimes people tend to make a big deal about something small, but you never know what you had until it's gone. Fortunately for me, I can still eat chocolate and it won't kill me or anything. I just can't eat it half as often as I used to. It's a bummer, but I'm glad to have it when I'm able to enjoy a piece on one of those rare occasions.

An allergy to cocoa? Ouch! I feel for you. Have you looked into alternatives such as carob? Actually, that's currently the only one I can think of... but there must be more.
