Hi! We are having my son's first birthday party this weekend. My husband and I are having the chocolate vs vanilla cake arguement. He thinks that Vanilla will be easier to clean up but I think that Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting will make cuter pictures. What kids did your kids have and worked best? Also did you strip them down to the diaper for their cake?

kids - kids and kids and kids
hi there... my son's first birthday was ok. it was a family gathering rather than children's party. yes there are kids, but it is not like a typical children's party with games, nope, it was not. it is a small gathering of my family and my boyfriend's family. it was nice because all i want for my son is to have a simple life from the very beginning until he grows old.

As long as your son has already had chocolate and you can rule out any allergy I say go for the chocolate. It is a first birthday cake. No one said it was supposed to be easy to clean up. My son had a chocolate cake with white icing for his first birthday. My daughter will be 1 next week and she will probably get the same. My son was fully clothed in his first birthday pics with the cake. I am thinking about stripping my daughter down to a diaper though. It was pretty messy.

he's tried chocolate and been fine with it. I think we might do white cake with chocolate frosting.

my kid loves chocolate and majority of children all over the world do. Don't think of the mess that it will caused..the fact that you are throwing a party for your kid, being messy is already given always considered that. Whether it is vanilla or chocolate or whatever flavor, it's the same messy experience. but if you really want to make your kid and his visitors enjoy the party, i suggest chocolate is the best. Enjoy the party!

Yes, one of the big occasion is the first birthday of my children. We always prepare a birthday party for that. We believe that the 1st day of the people is a great gift of God that people are blessed that they are still alive and healthy and welcome the birthday people to the world of being an old enough.

When my daughter turned 1 we got a cake from Walmart and you got a free single serve cake with it for them turning 1. I ordered the chocolate put her in a dipaer and a bib put her in her highchair and I let her enjoy her first birthday. Needless to say I had to give her a bath when she was done and sweep and mop the floor but she had a blast.
