The lil blue guys(and 1 girl) are a 5 billion dollar industry. Who remembers the smurfs? Who had merchandise?

Wow, I didn't have smurfs, I didn't know they were that old. I thought the smurfs were more of a 60s thing. Wow, time flies.

I loved the smurfs as well. When I was a little girl I had a lot of smurfs' little puppets and a typical mushroom house. A lot of puppets were of smurfette and I played a female version of the smurfs' village. LOL I was already feminist xD

I used to love the Smurfs. I wish I could remember all their names. The only merchandise I had was a small plastic Smurfette figurine. (Spell check does not like the word "Smurf"!) That was when Saturday morning cartoons were okay to watch.

Actually just this past weekend while visiting my dads house I got some stuff out of the attic and one of the things was a Smurf's book called The Fake Smurf. My son also found a little rubber Smurf toy that I had when I was his age. It is the cook (I forget his name). We also have a Smurfs coloring book running around here somewhere. It belonged to my older sister.

Smurfs were all-male. Smurfette was created by Gargamel out of clay to cause trouble for the other Smurfs, whom he expected to compete for her. However, she wasn't so attractive originally, so it didn't work. Papa Smurf took pity on her and used Plastic Smurfery for several days to make her pretty. This, unfortunately, caused her to fulfill the purpose intended for her by Gargamel. She was not a permanent character in the comics. She would stop by occasionally, but seems to have become a less disruptive character after the initial introduction. She was made a permanent character for the 1980s cartoon, living in the Smurf Village. The "cook smurf" was probably "Chef Smurf." The Smurfs appeared first in 1958 in a French magazine. Apparently, there are 105 named Smurfs when all is said and done.

I remember watching the smurfs as a little girl I always liked them. I don't have any of the merchandise though I just liked to watch the cartoon.

I sure do remember them! My daughter was a HUGE fan back in the 80's! It was a nice little show with a lesson mixed in with the comedy. They don't make cartoons like that anymore!

I am the only person I know that knows smurfette was not a real Smurf. it's sad how much I can remember about cartoons but everything else goes right out of my head the moment I hear it.

my mum invented the smurfs in the seventies. she got the idea from the wizard of Oz. she got 10 munchkins and stripped them naked and kicked them out a plane flying over the north pole. instant blue midgets. My mum says me and my invisable friends are as mad as a duvet full of tarantulas.
