I was looking at something on the internet and it was saying something about considering giving girls in school maternity leave when they have babies. What do you think about that? I think that it falls between the lines of yes and no because there is just to much that can go wrong with this situation. What do you think?

Hhhmm I've got mixed feelings about it really...As much as they need the maternity leave and should be entitled to it, at the same time its giving the impression not just to the students but to the parents and community as well that teen pregnancy is acceptable and its not...I have family in Ohio and the kids were telling me a couple yrs ago that they knew a student who was pregnant AT 13!! I'm sorry but thats WRONG....now if the student is 17 or 18 its still not a great life choice but it happens and at least that age is CLOSE to adulthood ya know....

i do think they should be allowed maternity leave, just because a girl is younger doesnt mean she shouldnt have all the same rights as an adult xxx

I knew quite a few girls who became pregnant back in high school. Walking around at 9 months pregnant and rushing back to school as soon as the baby was born so that they would not fail the year. I say yes and no to maternity leave. Girls who become pregnant in school should be offered the benefit of maternity leave or even home schooling until they can get back to school. I know the high school I went to had a daycare for the girls with kids but nothing with leave or maternity leave./ But doesn't this basically condone getting pregnant as well. Saying it's ok for girls at such young ages to have babies.

I think this would be a great idea because so many girls get preganant and never return to school because they been out for too long. I got pregnant at 14 yrs old and I had to drop out of school. I tried my hardest to get homeschooling and even transferring to another school but no hope. I ended up getting my GED and from there college.
