Organic food

I have two or three friends that only buy organic foods. I like to eat healthy but I'm not a fanatic about it like they are. Some people say it is a "hoax" and companies think they can charge more if their product says "organic" on it. What do you think? Do you shop for the organic products?

Organic food is super expensive. I do actually believe that it is a "hoax" when it comes from the same name brands that the bulk of the economies food comes from. Chances are they grow all of their product in the same fields to conserve on funds. It's all about making money these days, right?

It's not a hoax, but it's pointless. I'm pretty sure they don't lie, otherwise they'd probably be sued by now. However, there is absolutely no point in eating organic foods. The chemicals and additives used in regular food processing are engineered to be safe for human consumption. Some foods are actually engineered to taste better than the natural counterparts.

I prefer to buy my fruit & veg organic and local. And organic meat as I think that the hormones and antibiotics found in normal meat is really bad for you. However, if I'm going to buy frozen veg or tinned food, I just take the standard kind.
