is it weird to have a favoite car?no really im posting this discussion because i cant stand when people buy a lavish car or truck and pull up into an aprtment building. why do people do that?im just curious, do they not know that once you pull that car or truck off the lot the worth of it goes down? now if you were to buy a house or a piece of property the worth almost always goes up. maybe their priorities are not in order, but before i decide to buy my favorite truck the cadillac escalade ext i will own a house and or a piece of property. what do you think

I supposs it depends on where your priorities are..I am the type that had rather have my own home first, and then a car of my choice when i can afford it.A lot of people put all their priorities into their ride, but to me thats sorta foolish but i supposs it takes all kinds of people to make up this crazy world..I have a nice mobile home on 2 acres, and i am happy with my home.I have an older car and a truck (new) that i only owe one note on and it will be paid off(Whee) i am so looking forward to being out of debt..My husband on the other hand wants to go buy a new car, while i am happy to be out of debt and our car and truck are running fine and i see no reason to go into debt again for no reason..We are in debate now and so far i am in the lead...I think i have my head on right and i think a home that is yours and a place to lay your head is more important than a car..I see people all the time that has this brand new beautiful automobile , and yes it is parked in front of an apartment or in front of a shack..that in my book is wrong...

well in your case i believe you are right! it would be lovely to be completly out of debt. maybe a compromise though. just a thought. be debt free for a year or 2 so you guys can save some money then a new car if its still on the table. that way you both kinda win. with money saved you guys will be ahead and will have something to fall back on. a person should never get outa od debt then jump right back in. maybe give yourself some time to enjoy the money you dont have to spen on that car for a while before jumping back into another car. i would love to be in your shoes. i would act like im still paying my car note into a savings account for a few months after its paid off, and see how it grows.

It may sound weird for me to be doing this stuff, but my husband turned the finances over to me because he said i was better with making the money decisions....because he got us in a lot of trouble with credit cards and he said he knows he is bad with making money decisions....so i did it for him,his choice

My dream right now is to buy a house! So I agree that people are crazy. The many things that keep people at apartments, are for no maintenance to appliance costs, no yard work, if there is a problem at an apartment complex you call the office or the manager and they take care of it. If it's a house you own you have to fix the problems.

the same reason you buy something for you.. it makes you feel good.. i agree that its really not a good investment, but if they can afford it, what do we care? right now property and houses here aren't worth anything either,, so i guess if you like it and can afford it, never mind what anyone else thinks!

For everyone else, the Cadillac dream spreads throughout our generation. My favorite is a Cadillac Deville. And I am very specific too. Not Sedan Deville, not CTS, DTS, or any other combination of letters that Cadillac has. It has to be a Deville! But I just thought about this since you called. Maybe the person who has the lavish car doesn't want the responsibility of having a house. If that is the case, I think its okay. What really gets on my nerves are the ones who have their lavish car parked in front of their Mama's house where they have been living forever. At least the one who is parking it in front of the apartment has their own space!

Ha, that is true. How did I knoe you would respond to this one with your deville involved. The people still at their parents house erk my nerves as well. i really cant stand those who mooch off of their parents instead of getting their own. these are the ones who dont even helptheir parents, they just lived their like they are still 12. however they have a job and their parents are strugling to get by.

Totally a good point to bring up. Although to defend a friend, that still lives with his mother; he does also pay over half of the bills with his lavish car sitting in the drive way. So I guess it just depends wether they are truely balling and helping out, or mooching..as most of them do! Unfortunately!
