I want to make one thing clear, I do think it was a stupid thing for them to do. My entire argument is with the federal charges they could be facing. This happened between people the same age, roughly... and with their friends. Which means it's no worse than if they say, saw each other int he changing room at school or some such thing. Stupid really, because if they do get charged it effectively means you can molest yourself... If there was an adult involved in it anywhere then yeah they should be charged but the rest of it makes no sense at all to me.

I work in a Prison, I read files on guys who take advantage of kids like this every day. I do think it's quite harsh to punish them as luckily, these pictures did not get into the wrong hands. However, children must be taught that it is a dangerous world and to do this could get you seriously hurt. The law is there to protect the children, they are obviously oblivious of the harm that these graphic pictures could do were the wrong people to have them. So to protect them from themselves maybe they need puunishing, so that this doesn't happen again & there is no fuel for the fire. If the pictures aren't created they cannot be misused! Nica x

Nica, I could not agree more whole heartedly with you on this one. I have been watching this thread on and off today waiting to see if it caught on and what mylotters reactions to it is. The point of the matter is... this is not just a simple you show me yours and I will show you mine between children. They broke a very big important law by the transference of these pictures with an electronic device.

I was going to disagree but in the process of my own explanation I came up with a way that would cause actual harm to occur from the pictures. I mean I don't consider the scenario of one of the kids posting it in some obscure part of the internets "harm". But theoretically it could happen if one of the other kids acquaintances found them and used them as black mail... For me to consider it 'harm' it has to have some form of direct negative influence... Probably my problem with it is just that were it these kids getting nekkid in some room, by themselves and playing 'if show me yours' it wouldn't be a federal offense... probably just some spankings and a 'you're not allowed to play with Joey anymore' but because they did it via pictures which is theoretically safer... I'm not sure what was meant by 'no fuel for the fire' though. I mean it's not like if all pictures and whatnot of cp are erased that pedophiles will vanish along with them... Not that I'm supporting it or anything mind you.
