In television shows or movies, there will sometimes be a married male character who will get scared of his wife. One example of this happened in one of the Doctor Dolittle movies. I have not watched them, but I have seen one scene that includes Dr. Dolittle talking to animals about being the alpha male, when his wife asked him to go to the store. He accidentally yelled at her and then becomes scared as he tried to explain why that happened. Why do you think the make some married male characters like this? If you are a married man, do you get scared or intimidated by your wife?

Yes,men can get scared of their wives.I am a woman but I can see it in my husband. If I raise my voice just only to make sure that he hears me.I can see this look on his face that he is intimidated. He will think that I am yelling at him but I am not.I do raise my voice a little when I have something important to say only because I want to make sure that he hears me.I don't want to sound like I am mumbling.I really am not yelling at him.He gets this look on his face and he always says I feel like I am being scolded. Then I say I'm not yelling,I just wanted you to know blah, blah, blah. Now I just wonder if all woman raise their voice up a little when they want to tell their husband something and not even realise that they do it.I didn't realise I did that until he kept saying, why are you yelling at me ?

Because it's realistic :-D Men I know usually don't want to anger their wives! Probably because girls are good at remembering being angry and it will take awhile before they forgive you.

Not a married man; but, I have seen men who have been scared, intimidated, and even abused by their wives and/or girlfriends. I used to be a dispatcher for a company. In the evenings the workers would take turns on "standby" responding to after hours troubles. We had one guy who always made sure that if female dispatchers were the ones who had to call him out for a trouble and his wife answered - we were always to ask for MR ....... and clearly state that we were calling from our company's dispatch office. Otherwise, his wife would accuse him of "cheating" (which he had nver done - he was too afraid to even consider it) and she would make his life miserable for the next week. There were even times when he came to work with bruises and a black eye. So, I would say that they make some characters act like this because it really DOES happen.
