Sounds like you are going to be in the kitchen for awhile lil Sis. Do you have a blender. There's carrot juice for the kids. Sweet potato pie (I am from the south),sweet potato chips, just like tater chips. Carmeled carrots yummm (I am from the south). Soup with a few extra ingredients and then freeze it. Shoot there's tons of things you can do with all that and freeze it for later. By the way just give the turnips to someone you don't like yuckkkkkkk!

Oh my I love turnips, and there is bound to be someone in your neighborhood who does too. Or you could give the turnips to the homeless shelter. They could sure use the extra food. I think you have read enough suggestions of what to do with the other veggies. I hope you enjoy them no matter how you cook them

*sigh* Sweet potatoes.... I rarely have those since I don't buy them often because my boyfriend don't like them. You can make french fries out of both kinds of potatoes, no need for a meat, they make a great snack lol. And if you don't like fried foods then have baked fries. Fried potatoes are always good. And I liked the idea of a veggie soup. its very cold here right now, so that is what I would do.

LOL that wounds like something I would do. We use peanut oil in our deep fryer. It seems to make things more crispy. Our nephew just can't eat anything from our fryer...he is allergic.

How about tossing them with a bit of olive oil, salt and pepper and putting them in the oven to roast? What about dicing them up and making a stew or soup from them? I love these vegetables. These are some of the ways I would use these veggies. A lot of good vitamins and minerals, also. Personally, I would slice some of them up and fry some of them, also. The flavors would meld together good. I fry carrots and potatoes all of the time together.

You could make soup or roast them. I love sliced potatoes fried in butter. If you have ground beef you could dice the veggies small and cook them with the meat to make a hash type meal. Potato soup sounds really good to me right now. I wish we had a program like that here. I'd love cheap veggies.

The carrots and potatoes would be great in a soup or a stew or even a pot pie. I make a big pan of scalloped potatoes when I need to use up some potatoes. Sweet potatoes and apples are good with pork chops. My daughter loves sweet potatoes if you just bake them up. I am not sure about turnips. I don't think I have ever used them.

\yea turnups kinda taste funny dont they. I got them all in a community program that have running here.. Its a farming area, so the farmers throw together bags of produce and sell them off cheap, so we get whatever is being harvested. Its 13$ for amonths supply of veggies! WAY better then the grocery store! I'd pay 13 bucks for just the carrots potatoes and onions prob at store!

I made the stew tonight. and it was good. I got some beef, and some bacon, and i simmered that till it was browned and then added the water and potatoes, carrots, sweet taters, turnup, onions andd mushrooms, boiled it, added some water/flour mixture to make it thick, and added some spices for a little ZONG, and let it simmer a bit. Hubby and i ate a lot of it, but baby girl didn't seem to like it much. She's a REAL picky eater that one.

Ingredients 4 large carrots (peeled and chopped) 1 large onion 2 tsp ground coriander vegetable stock olive oil salt pepper Fry the onion in oil until soft. Add the carrots and coriander and stir. Cover in vegetable stock and bring to the boil. Simmer until the carrots are cooked (at least 20 minutes to make them soft enough to blend). Blend until smooth. Season with salt and pepper. BUTTERED GLAZED TURNIPS 5 med. turnips, peel and slice about 1/4 inch thick 1 beef bouillon cube (or 1 tsp. granulated bouillon) 1/4 c. butter, melted 2 tbsp. brown sugar Black or red crushed pepper to taste Salt (if you like) to taste Cook turnips until tender in water in which cube is dissolved. Drain and place in casserole dish. Drizzle with melted butter, sprinkle with sugar and pepper. Place in 350 degree oven for about 15 minutes until flavors are blended. Serve hot. Serves 4. You can make sweet potato soup as you do with the white potatoes, You can make french fries with sweet potatoes they are good. Boil the turnups then mash them and add a little butter and salt and pepper.

If you have a frezer that is big enough, freeze them for later, it won't harm any of them. "carrots, potatoes, turnip and sweet potatoes" can also be sliced thin and dried (dehydrated) and used later also. These four also make cood "chips" (crisps). Clean them, slice them thin, then fry till crispy, and drain. Inexpensive and nutritious snak food.

If all else fails, offer it to hunters for deer bait [or bear bait]. But it sounds like soup to me. I'm not fond of turnips but the other sounds great. Of course, that's a lot of soup. So why not can some of it?

I'm not much of a chef, nor am I really creative. Once joined to "learn" at college, although the tutors treated me like my brother. (who had built a reputation for skipping and being absent, mainly through illness) I quit because it was too darn annoying. LOL It's moments like this I wished I hadn't. ~Joey

Oh no meat is a problem! I was going to suggest that you make yourself a stew, You could still make one with no meat. Cook off all the veg and then slightly bash and mix with gravy

I agree witht he soup suggestion. A veggie soup with some organic chicken broth is good. As fort he sweet taters, I usually peel then slice them place them in a baker and sprinkle brown sugar and cinnimon on the top, and bake at 350 til done.
