I had heard of some couples who had a ceremony for renewing of their vows. What do you think of marriage vow renewal? And how often?

I don't think that you have to renew your wedding vows, I think that once you take that vow you shouldn't have to "recommit" yourself to someone you renew your vows on a daily basis if you're happy and respect one another. I do believe in renewal of vows if you have had a lot of problems and have worked thru them and went to marriage counsoling. Then the renewal of your vows would show your new found respect of each other.

And I'm not apposed to it. It can be a great thing especially after 30,40,50 years it's something that your children can also participate in.

Yes, because it is a juvenation of commitment. I think it should be renewed as often as the couple wants.

For it to be a big celebration thing, then it should only be 10 or 20 years. But, for just a personal thing between the two of you, you can do it as often as you want. My fiance and I have decided that we want to break teh Guiness record of most vow renewals, which is 87. I think we're going to start out doing it every year on our anniversary. Then, once we get a little more regular money coming in, we'll do it for seasons, diffrent themes and things like that. We live in Vegas, we have options lol.

I witnessed the renewing of vows of my grandparents way back. They did that as part of their big celebration for their golden wedding anniversary. I only knew that they did it once. It's nice to look at them. It's as if their memories came back to life.

I'm all for renewing marriage vows as long as it's not all a lie. If people are having problems in their relationship, trying to renew their marriage vows as a fix-it is unacceptable. Also, if it's to be done and done right, with family and friends, then it should only be done for the 25th wedding anniversary. If smaller personal events occur between spouses, that's their business. Renewing marriage vows is another way of showing everyone that not only are you very happy in your marriage, but that you would do it all over again which, technically, you are!

I think renewing marriage vows is sweet...It shows your friends and family that you and your partner have fulfil the vows of being together, sharing the love and hardship together etc I would say it should be done every 5 years or every 10 years....depending...or maybe a renewal after 20 years of marriage...
