Hello, I love Disneyland; I got quite a bit, live near the park. Here are a few tips: 1.) First of all, if you are looking for a good hotel, don't worry about the top of the line guys or staying at the Disneyland hotel unless you can afford it or really want that experience, it's not really worth it. What you could do is try to stay at any of the "gate" hotels that are located in the front of the park. They are all within walking distance of the front gate and you can save a lot of money. 2.)If at all possible, try to go on a Friday. It's not as packed as the weekdays (until the evenings) and it's open late enough for the fireworks and the cool night shows like Fantasmic and the parade. 3.) Take your family outside of the park and eat at any of the restaurants around the park. Denny's, IHOP, McDonald's are all right outside the park and a LOT cheaper than eating in the park itself. 4.) Try Fast Passes. They allow you to get a pass to get in the front of the lines on rides provided you go back later in the day. For example, you can get passes for Space Mountain and it gives you a time frame to return and go into an express lane that gets you on the ride faster. It allows you to spend less time in line. Hopefully all of those tips help you out. I think you'll have a great time (I always do).

Absolutely, just send me a message. I love helping people when it comes to Disneyland. I used to have an annual pass and I would go all the time, but I didn't renew it. I want to get one again, hopefully sometime this year.

We were blessed with winning a trip to 2007, anywhere of our choice. We chose Disneyland, since we live in Maryland. I would check to see what type of rooms and rates Disneyland offers and then check around the park. We stayed 4 days/3 nites and room was $2,300 (which did include a meal package and the conceirge level). I almost chocked when I saw that bill. There is lots of well known hotels within walking distance of the resort. My suggestion is contact the Chamber of Commerce of Anaheim for information on what is around the park. I don't know how old your children are, but if they want to do the new Nemo ride prepare to wait. We were lucky that that park opened early one day for people staying at the resort and we rode it. As a parent, I don't think it is worth the hype. My girls had more fun riding the thrill rides. Speaking of thrill rides, we rode Splash Mountain and my six year old, who loves rollercoasters, log rides, etc. was truly scared with this ride. We got the souvenior photo and her face is nothing but poor panic. I was disappointed that they did not have any type of seat belt for this ride. She is only 50 pounds and she truly thought she was going to fly out coming out of the mountain.

I went to Disneyland the first time I went to California. I was staying in Santa Monica and I went there for a day. It was one very busy, action pack and exciting day. There was just so much to see and do. I think that taking children there would be fantastic. I think a few days there up to a week would be the ideal amount of time there. I liked seeing the Swiss Family Robinson tree house the most. If I was you I would choose a hotel that is near the entrance gate and is reasonably priced. Often hotel rooms have two double beds. Flying from Australia have you thought of stopping of? I might like to do a stop over in Hawaii for a few days to break up the journey time. Have a wonderful time.

thanks for all that.yes taking children is a good excuse for me as i am a big kid and i love rides,so i won't look out of place.it sounds as if the hotels outside the gates are the best value as everyone has suggested.i think we would definately need a few days there. cheers sue
