Taking away our points!

If MyLot is going to take away our points, it would be really nice if they could at least send us a message explaining to us why the points were taken away! When I went to bed last night I had 803 points. Today I have 798 points. That means somewhere along the line, they took away 5 of my points! I would guess maybe some discussions were deleted? It just seems only fair that we be given an explanation when this occurs.

You get points taken away for starting a new discussion, and you get them back if someone responds to it. Thats all I know.

I've never noticed that. If that's the case it's only started happening since they updated the site. In any case, I didn't start any new discussions yesterday or today between the time I had the points and they disappeare, so that's not what caused me to lose points.

I didn't know that. And I agree. It makes no sense to take away our points, and give them after.

If they would just send a message when they remove points explaining WHY they are removing them, it would really help everyone. We would then understand what it is we are doing wrong and know not to continue doing it. As it is, we don't know so we continue making the same mistakes over and over again, obviously.

your lucky it was only 5points i knew someone with 50 points deducted from her, her links was deleted as well as some of her discussions.. but for me, what deleted was just a discussion, and 11 points..

OMG!! That's a lot of points! Did she have any idea why this was done?

Evidently it is discussions being deleted although I didnt see any being deleted until today. They are being deleted like mad today since the Guidelines came out. I even lost one best response. I'm frankly surprised this one hasn't been deleted -- I guess it still could be. My rating has been going from 870 down to 868 and back to 870 and back down all day long. LOL

try not to response to discussions that you already participated, users says that it will also deduct pts. from you..

That's interesting. I'll watch and see if that happens. I just lost another point a few minutes ago, but haven't yet figures out why. It wasn't for that reason, however, as I hadn't replied to a discussion yet today that I'd previously replied to.

That is crazy.. it would be nice if they gave deeper explanations on how some of this stuff works around here

I just think it's plain wrong to not explain to us how these things work!

I lost some more points again over night. They never disappear when I'm online. Very discouraging.

I noticed on Friday that I had lost 5 points. I thought it was because someone was giving me a negative rating, but I guess it could have been something to do with the upgrade confusion?

I hadn't thought of the negative rating thing. Maybe that's what happened. I can't think of any reason why anyone would have done that though. I try not to make posts that would make people angry.

It just makes no sense at all to me. Mine seems to happen whenever the payments take place. I'm asleep then so I might be wrong. I just know it said one thing when I signed off for the night and another when I signed on the next day.

I haven't noticed any points going away, but I really haven't been paying attention that closely. I will from now on. As I'm typing this, I have 943. I would love to find out why they're taking points away from some people and not others and why some discussions disappear when you're trying to post to them. I think it's time for some explanations. The person that referred me hasn't been given any credit for referrals for 2 days, and I've earned over $2 myself each day...so she should have earned 25% of what I made. C'mon, myLot! You've got some explaining to do.

The disappearing points is bad enough, the referrals is almost criminal! That is supposed be pretty much cut and dried. They need to come out and explain these issues to us clearly once and for all.

I too have begun to notice this strange phenomenon and have since come up with the following theory: If another mylot user doesn't like your discussion topic or disagrees with your response, they can give you a "-" which I think may substract points from your total score. This has been happening to me lately as well.

That's the only thing I can figure out also. It doesn't seem quite fair, however. It also discourages people from giving opposing views on discussions for fear of getting points taken away.

My best guess is that maybe the points that were given to us from responding to discussions get taken away if those discussions get deleted by MyLot?

That's what my original thinking was as well. I've gone back and looked, though and I can't find where any have been deleted. I've about come to the conclusions that the only thing it could be would be somebody giving negative ratings, although I can't image why anyone would have done that either.

Don't blame mylot, I don't know exactly if this is what happened here. The other day I was in a discussion and i pissed someone off and the all gave me a "-" and i seen my rating go down a little bit. again not sure if this is what has happened to you. check out this post if you have a second i think i am being scammed too. www.mylot.com/w/discussions/138265.aspx?p=0

I guess that might have happened, although I can't think of any posts that I've made that would have pissed anybody off. I guess it's always possible though. I'll go check out your post.

It would really be nice if they could just tell us the reasons why this might happen. That's my biggest beef with MyLot. They don't explain the way things work well enough.
