Have you made the switch to curly fluorescent light bulbs?

All the lights in my house (except one) are the curly fluorescent bulbs (CLF?) Anyhoo, I tend to leave the lights on more. I guess that means I'm squandering the saving value. Have you made the switch and has it affected your policy about turning off lights when they aren't being used? Curious one wants to know :)

We also have a few but like you, not all. I think eventually, the old fashion filament bulbs will be on the way out completely. Cheers.

I have switched everywhere exccept the dining room five light thing. They have newer ones that give off a softer light and are nice. I like lights on in the winter, need lights on in the winter, and makes me feel less guilty with these guys burning.

My 5-light fixture in the dining room is excellent for use of the curly bulbs (small 40 watters x 5 = 200 watts) because each bulb is encase in a "cup" so none of the curly bulbs look out of place. Yes, the dark days of winter are far less expensive with these lights.

I have decided to gradually start switching, although I do still have some of the others left in my pantry. I bought a pack of the new ones when they were on sale. Unfortunately, I didn't save anything with the first one as it was smashed when the lamp was knocked over after about the second use. LOL But I am planning to switch them all out as the others bulbs burnout (or break).

I'd say we're at 80% for switching to the new light bulbs. I just hate shopping for them. Most of the time, when I get them home, I don't like them. And my hubby thinks I need to get the brightest ones they make. At night if you stand on the street and look at our house, it looks like we keep the sun in there, I'm not kidding. It's ridiculous. I do like the energy savings I just need to keep searching for the right bulbs.

We have a few of them, but our house is not totally switched over yet. I turn off lights like crazy anyway thought. I have always done so. I think I would continue to do it even if all the light bulbs got switched out of habit.

That's playing it smart! By not breaking your old habit of being conservative, you'll maximize the life of the bulb and savings. Thank you for responding.

Hi Joyce I am not too sure what you mean by curly lightbulbs but I have got energy saving light bulbs in every room of my home which have an extremely long life time and are energy saving. The only one I can't use this type of bulb in is the switch I have a dimmer swith on so I have to use a convential bulb. Trying to do my bit, but I must admit like you I do tend to leave them on at times :)
