I think money has much too great a hold over people these days, and I blame the system in part at least. Kids aren't taught how to handle money and what it's true worth is in schools or by their parents any more, so they're expected to go out into a world where they're offered credit left right and centre, and deal with it in a way that isn't easy. I personally believe that if you can get control over your money, you'll find you hate it a whole lot less. There are some good and useful articles about money (budgeting, and saving money on different things etc.) over on the peazyshop website which I help with - I wrote some of the articles you see. Why not give them a read, and then pop onto the forum there and say hi. Lots of people there who are wanting to make a bit extra or save a bit somehow etc. and it might be that we could share some ideas with you that have helpped some of us. (One big tip I'd offer is to go through all your outgoings one at a time - I check one of mine every month - and see if you can reduce it by getting whatever cheaper somewhere else. So look at electric, gas, buildings insurance, contents insurance, internet, phone etc. etc. For example, just by changing from BT for phone, and Tiscali for internet to a combined phone and internet package from tiscali I saved about £30 per month! that's £360 a year just by changing one thing.

i agree that money isn't taught at school and maybe they should make it a class almost like physical education. my mom and dad didn't teach me anything about money they have the worst credit ever! and then my father screwed me over when i was younger which caused my credit score to go way low. now that i am a lot older and wiser i am more careful about my money, but my hubby also needs to be careful too. i appreciate the reply and i will check out those sites :-D

i feel the same way about money as you.i know we need it but if i could live without it i would. as long as i have the important things i need who cares about the rest. i am not a material person and enjoy the simple things in life.

well like you i cant say that i hate money, i just hate what money does to people. you cant let money control you. and you have to realize that there are more important things out there. like you said, youre rich because you have your family. there are so many wealthy people out there who cant even have a family.

Don't hate money. By feeling hatred, you are only hurting yourself. Don't obsess over it either, but learn to make money work for you instead of you working for money. It's tough to understand, but jsut think about it for a while and maybe you will see what I'm trying to say.
