The last time I was sending letters when I was in Elemntary school. My best friend moves to another town, after since I sent her letters. But a year after that we stop sending letters. And I think that was the last time I sent letters. Nowadays people just use message by cellphone even to sat birth days greetings or in holidays greetings. It is modern, but I think its kinds rude, especially for the people who have close relationship. And I think letters are more intimate. I miss love letters.

I used to write penpal letters. I had 90 some pals around the world. I loved it. I find that letters are indeed way more personal. I lvoe them better than email or texting but! Canada post is bloody expensive. It starting costing me $1.50 to send a letter Internationally. And when it was birthdays or christmas or something I would send a present which would cost close to $20.00 just to ship. So I had to stop sending letters. It makes me sad sometimes but frankly with the price of stamps, I can't afford it anymore.

You would think that in a more global age, that they would be looking for ways to cut down on the costs of sending things around the world. I just think that substantially more people would be putting things through the mail if it wasn't quite so expensive.

PunkyMcPunk I agree with you.In our country here posting a letter is expensive too.And also I think posting letters takes too much time, you should buy stamps envelope and so on,you should go out to post them.So I do not write letters any longer.

I respect your opinion. Yet, I actually feel more intimacy and closeness with emails and text msg's. Reason being that its instant, if you get an email that says I love you.. you know that a few moments ago that feeling occured in that other person. And you can reciprocate with haste. You are able to deliver the message of love. Not to mention that if you think about it, some years ago, sending mail became the new modern way of speaking. And it was faster than going to visit that person. So as I look at it these new forms of communication, is just an improved way of staying in touch with our love ones. No disrespect meant, just my personal opinion...

Of course. Im open for any opinion. It is true that email and texting are more modern and fast. Save a lot of time and energy. I agree with you in that point.

In the past I also liked writing letters. At that time there was no internet and besides telephone, the best way is the letter. I seldom write a letter today as it takes time. Besides, I have to go to send it in weekends. It is very inconvenient.

I send some little notes in my Christmas cards but I can't remember the last time that I sent a letter. It has been quite awhile. I usually email anyone I know it saves the .41 cents I would have to spend on a stamp. Why send a letter when you can email someone for free and they will have it almost instantly instead of having to wait days to get it in the mail right?

When i was a small child i see some mails for our housemaid from their relatives who lives in the province. They usually write letters to let their love ones know their conition. But nowadays, they just use cellphones to send text messages. It's easier, cheaper and hassle-free too. As for me, i had once send letter with a friend but it just stopped because of technology. Why send letters when there is emails and cellphones. But still, sending letters to people around the world is fun.
