Are Memories Made For Numbers?

Following on from my last discussion about giving your phone number out, I have to laugh because I have changed my mobile number last October because of my ex and I knew it off by heart! Even if I wanted to I can't for the life of me remember my mobile phone number off by heart! So even if a Leonardo Di Caprio lookalike turned up, I still couldn't give him my number because I can't remember it LOL. What am I like eh? So can you remember numbers easily? Or do you have trouble in remembering? Four digits for the ATM I am ok with, thankfully Some people are so clever they can remember their national insurance numbers and person id numbers which can be 10 letters and words. Sadly that is a talent I don't possess

No, I cannot remember numbers. I can't even remember my ssn when asked, I have to take the card out of my purse and read it out. I was once scolded at the hospital for not knowing my own ssn when signing in for some testing. It is just not an option for me, so...

I could rhyme off my NI number , driving licence number and most of the numbers I phone from home regularly but if it is a number that I mainly phone from my mobile then you can guarantee I won't remember it - mobile phones make us so easy when you just have to press a button don't they? This discussion has made me feel quite good actually since my mind hasn't been working very well at all and when I tested some numbers and things I could spout them off - cool I do still have a brain in there somewhere! Hugs xxxx

I have always been very good when it comes to remembering numbers, wolfie, but I find it is getting more difficult these days. All of the people I know seem to be continuously changing their phone numbers, and I have placed them on notice that I refuse to keep learning new numbers since it's not as easy as it once was. What you say is true, however, it is always harder to remember your phone number than those of others.

I used to be proud of the fact I had a really good memory. I used to remember phone numbers no problem, as long as I saw the number. I remembered things by seeing them. So when I had to remember a phone number, or anything else, I would write it down and look at it for a couple minutes and it was burned into my brain. But now that I am getting older this doesn't happen for me anymore. I am finding I don't remember a lot of things. I have trouble remembering my own phone number now. let alone someone elses, unless it's a number I phone often. I guess this is an age thing for me, but I don't like it.

I have a hard time with numbers,I have to say the number more than ten times, write it down until it is engrained in my memory. I cannot understand how my husband can give the teller his bank account number. I have to look at mine all the time, and as for my credit card numbers, more than six numbers and I have had it. I was asked for my cell phone number, and for the life of me, I had to go into my purse and find it in my address book. Now my son's cell phone is easy to remember, but mine is not that easy.

Hi my friend, I too forget numbers at times so I keep everyone's number in the memory of my phone including my own. Many times I have to look it up to give out my own number.

I try to memorize the numbers around me as much as possible like my friends' cell phone number, my friends' birthday, etc. I think sometimes it easier me & train my brain to think wider than before.

I remember numbers quite well most of the time but if I am distracted while using the number I won't remember it. I do know my social security number along with my seven children's numbers and my husband(ex)...I don't know why but I just do. xoxoxoxo

Hello dear wolfie. I have to say that I am not a person good at memorizing numbers that I do not often use, but those that I use often. I think that we will be able to remember numbers well so long as we intend to. Please try, my dear wolfie, and you will find that you are in fact talented in remembering the 'boring' and long numbers. lol.
