Ammachi - the hugging saint

Have you heard of the hugging saint - she spends all day hugging - not eating, sleeping going to the bathroom. Pretty amazing.
AMa means mother. She is a very powerful religious figure in India (maybe those who are from there can enlighten us more) Teaches us in relation to our own lives that some sacrfice is needed for our childre. Although, in our own lives I believe we need balance, we need to take care of our needs so that we can give even more to others.
Very like how on airplanes, we're told to give ourselves oxygen first, in case of trouble - then our children.
What do you think of Ammachi and what she does - and have you ever felt there is something you were called to do? That you have done or put off.

I have never heard of her and it would be interesting to find out more. Yes you have to sacrifice for your children...if they need shoes and you do too....they get the shoes...I raised my three kids by myself..after the first year of being divorced he no longer came to get them.....just on holidays for show to his family. We are very close...the four of us and yes there were things I sacrificed but now that they are grown...I have time to fullfill my dreams.....I think what I write is what I was called to do. To share love through my stories and poetry. My first book is about a late term abortion that survived.....and they do. I think God has a very big part in my destination.

I would love to read that book, your description intrigued me. I love that you did what was necessary to raise your children with love and now its all about you - yet you are all about spreading love. Thank you - for - well - being you.

I saw her on a CBS special. I think what she does is great. She is spreading love and understanding.It is beautiful.

I think so too. Sarahruthbeth, you are such a great mix of elements, willing to stand up for what you believe in - even in revenge :) - and the things you belive in are so great - like love and truth!
