I just got diagnosed and put on mood stabilizers, so I haven't even thought about going off of the meds I just got on. They say not to do that.

If u are already pregnant, then you will be ok, under dr care. If you are not, do not come off until u are. My 3 pregnancies went great, in terms of emotions. I didnt take them due to the possible side affects for the fetus. After each i went right back on them, due to the higher risk of post partum depression

If your medication works for you why would you want to stop taking it? If it does not work then you need to discuss this with your therapist and find a replacement that will work. The object of the medication is to make you feel better and for the depression to lessen. When someone starts to feel better the medication is working - but the common response is - if I feel better then I don't need the meds anymore. But the reason that you feel better is the meds. Don't play around. Stay on your meds!

i can't quit mine, they are seriously f8nked up on the withdrawl symptoms, but i have cut my doseage in half and have been working with my doctor on finding out the real reason behind my need for them. we've narrowed it down to PMDD and now are trying out new ways of controlling it.
