A very interesting and timely question.
First, I would like to say I would like to recycle, but the current mode of having 3 different trash cans isn't feasible. I have limited floor space in which to function. This mode of recycling requires square footage.
Then comes the issue of when and where to dump. It doesn't do any good to set up a "recycling" center if the concept isn't carried out at the dumpster. By that, I mean if all the trash is "dumped" into one gigantic dumpster, what good is it to enforce recycling in the home or office but not have the same system at the disposal end?
I really would like to see a workable recycling solution come to light.

I am not aware of the new taxation of which you speak. Is there a link you could direct me to?

Recycling is something that is currently a huge subject where I live. The council have been going on and on and on about wanting us to recycle and have provided us with different coloured bins for different types of waste. This is all great and I am all for helping the environment and recycling was actually one of my new years resolutions for 2006. BUT what really infuriates me is that we can only recycle certain items. I always make a very conscious effort to buy products that can be recycled but the council will not take margarine pots or yoghurt pots or shampoos or deodrants to name but a very few - so whats the point?!!! In order to help us be more efficient recyclers they need to provide us with the facilities to be able to recycle all plastics and metals etc that have the recycle symbol on them. It just doesnt make sense!!!
