Some people - like me - love to sleep. Rest for the next day, great dreams! Its like a luxury. I love the idea of sliding back under warm covers on a cold morning.... Some people hate to sleep for various reasons. Where do you fall and what are your reasons?

Sleep is sleep to me. I am a night owl and I don't need 8 hours of sleep.I need about 6 or 7 hours. When I do sleep, it is fine but I don't hate to sleep.

So you can basically take it or leave it. Thats cool. Some people find other ways to rejunenate themselves. Some - not you, though, don't get enough sleep and don't function optimally and don't realize it, until they find they're not getting enough deep sleep ( I bet even though you sleep shorter hours - you sleep more efficiently then most)through a sleep study or whatever, and start sleeping well (like those who have sleep apnea) - they realize that they haven't been remembering, thinking, feeling as well as they could. But since its an everyday thing they never realized it. You seem pretty sharp though overall and obviously have the energy to get through the day without eight hours sleep. I learned I didn't need it as much as I thought -when my baby went through colic and I didn't sleep hardly at all, somehow I was able to function. And without caffiene.

Baby is okay now I hope. Mothers learn to use what amount of sleep they get.

I love daily naps too and will often nap with the baby - but just as often I will come on hear and type or watch a show online. Like Lost.

I love sleep as well, but the problem is that it can be addictive. Yes, sleeping can be addictive. Some people can over sleep. I will admit it, I have done that myself. Sleeping is fine, in small dosages.

You got it. Everything in moderation.

Everything in moderation right? I may fall into that category - addicted to sleep - but I think its part of what keeps me young. Body processes slow down, mind and body rejunenate!

Sleeping is natural process which I believe is quite useful. Sleeping could help us to get rid of tiredness, boredom, depression and many other emotional distresses. A short afternoon nap could refresh me very much and I just feel uneasy to do without it. Anyhow if I am busy involved in certain interesting activities I will then find myself difficult to sleep earlier. I always feel reluctant to get up from the bed the following morning even though I go to bed early.

I so agree that it is useful for so many things - and keeping us young too by allowing ourselves to refresh ourselves - and slowing down body processes. I am always reluctant to leave my bed - but with a baby have no choice!

I love to sleep, whenever possible. It recharges me for the next day. My partner does not like me sleeping alone, if she is with me then it is OK! Otherwise, if she is busy in some household chores, you just do not like that I am sleeping. I tell her...often...that one can only sleep...if one feels like...if the body demands that rest is required...and you are tired...then only you can sleep...otherwise there is no use of lying down on a bed and doing nothing.

Ah she's jealous because she's working and you're lounging! I can sleep anytime, even if I'm not tired I have a knack for sleeping - expert sleeper. Sometimes if I've had a long day, just lying in bed day dreaming for 20 minutes can rejuvenate me. Hi Deepak!

I love to sleep once I'm able to go to sleep but I have an awful hard time getting comfortable because of my back and joint problems. However, I'm with you on loving to slide back under warm covers on a cold morning. Getting BACK to sleep isn't usually a problem, it's getting there to begin with. Annie

I'm sorry you have all these problems. Do you get regular massage therapy? You can go to a massage therapy school and get a very much discounted massage in their clinics - some even will give it free, if you agree to be part of "test" days.

OMG I love sleep, sometimes I think a little too much. Sometimes I am so tired that I feel like sleeping for 24 hours straight. Like tonight. I had to go to court early this morning, and I had two dockets so I had to stay almost all day. But I still have to get up in the morning to get the boy off to school, so I can have a little peace lol. I have slept for 24 hours before, I don't know what was going on with me that day, but I just wanted to sleep. I was over my aunt's house, and she thought it was unhealthy, so she made me get up about 4 that afternoon. I just came downstairs and fell asleep on the kitchen table. After looking at me for about 15 mins she yelled, "If all you were going to do was go back to sleep, you coulda stayed in the bed!" I wanted to yell, then why didn't you leave me there?!?" So I went back to bed. I woke up feeling so refreshed the next day. I miss that *sniff*

sleeping is pleasant of course.in this way,we get enough energy.but i sometimes wonder why there're so much time we spend on sleeping.it takes up our time we've plan for the work or study.so i avoid more sleep, just proper unless i'm very tied.and i never has a noon sleep.it will make me dizzy,i suppose.but i still enjoy the warmth in the winter morning and be lazy.

I wrote a thread about that, how its better to get up early and study and get eight hours of sleep because research has proven that proper sleep can actually improve our memory, concentration and capacity to learn - and when we don't get it regularly we can't even detect the fact that we're not thinking at an optimal level because we're used to it. So get some sleep - its good for your brain! :)
