The 105th anniversary of Harley Davidson is coming up. 5 years ago Harley Davidson embarrassed themselves by booking Elton John and Tim McGraw as the "mystery headliners" to close out a weeklong celebration.
Nothing wrong with either Elton John or Tim McGraw, but they didn't exactly bring a rocking climax to the festivities.
Harley Davidson decided to trash the whole "mystery headliner" thing this year and announced who the headliner is going to be.
They said "Bruce Springsteen is who Harley riders are."
What do you say? Who would you rather see headlining the event?

*big sigh*....Well I'm a HUGE Harley fan and have been for yrs and yrs and yrs BUT i am NOT a fan of Bruce Springsteen and never have been...HOWEVER Elton John really isnt a good choice either (even though I personally love E.J)....Why didnt they pick a southern rock type band like Lynyrd Skynyrd or even someone like Kid Rock maybe....Cause to me...Springsteen IS NOT who Harley Riders are at all..neither is Elton John.....Why not ZZ Top? What about Greg Allman or Foghat etc etc etc

In fairness, the other bands on the bill are...
ZZ Top
Daughtry
The Black Crowes
Dierks Bentley
Peter Frampton
Los Lonely Boys
Blue Oyster Cult
War
Foghat
Joan Jett & The Blackhearts
Puddle of Mudd
Gary Allan
Buddy Guy
Blind Melon
Cameo
Dr. John
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
The Crave
Some of whom would have been great headliners, but for a company that is so "USA All the Way", USA bashing Bruce shouldn't be considered.
I agree, I like Elton John a lot, he was one of my first favorites... but the dude just Does NOT rock! Ok, yeah, he has a few rockers, but he can't make a whole set out of Saturday Night's Alright for Fighing. ;~D

Damn thats a pretty good flipping line up! I saw Foghat in concert back in 86 with Bad Company, Molly Hatchet and another band that I can't remember for the bloody life of me and it ROCKED...Joan Jett is fabulous (I'm also a Runaways fan and Suzi Quatro), ZZ Top well hell they BELONG top billing IMO AND Peter Frampton?! HELL YA!! (tee hee have you seen his Geico commercial LOL)...
I wonder how hard it would be for me to get to Milwaukee?! cause I really wanna go damn it!!
heres a link for anyone interested btw

That's going to be the most wussified Harley celebration EVER!!!
Let's try some Doobie Brothers, Foghat, ZZ Top, .38 Special, CSN&Y (yep, back together going on 2 years now) or maybe ...maybe just maybe Lynyrd Skynyrd would be the BEST band for the job.
Who's in charge of this shindig?
They need fired for real.

Funny you should say that.
I was telling the hubs about this discussion later that day (answered you from work), and we agreed that after Born to Run and Born in the USA, that the bikers would not be into remembering Glory Days or riding in Pink Cadillacs!
hahahaha
Thanks for presenting the rest of the playbill.
Seeing Foghat and Blue Oyster Cult on that list are quite comforting.

I just can't believe Harley would bring in Bruce Springsteen for the finale. I mean come on, Born to Run rocks, but most his other songs are mindless yawners.

Bruce would be a good choice, even though we won't be able to ride out for it, I think he would be a good choice.

Are you saying that because you just like Bruce Springsteen, or do you think he's big among Harley riders?
Personally, I don't think Harley's All American image fits with Bruce Springsteens "all is lost in America" image... but maybe that's just me.
