Why do certain celebrities change their names to sound like royalty or someone important? Why are they not satisfied with regular names? I can understand years ago when a movie star's real name was hard to pronounce, but now we have The Rock, and Queen La- (sorry do not know how to spell it) and yet if I were a celebrity and I wanted to be called Princes of All I Survey, I would be called conceited and arrogant? Are not those celebrities already famous? Why make themselves as rulers over us?

Perhaps its their way of projecting their fame before or after they have earned it. But more than likely why each group or artist decided upon that title is specific to them and hard to justify in a group concensus.

I suppose the old adage, "No conceit on your family. You have it all" applies in that case. I would think they also want people to bow and kowtow to them. I can see changing a name because it is hard to pronounce, or kind of foreign or you have the same name as another famous person, but to make yourself a title like "the Lord of the Manor" or something like that implies you want to be the boss and everyone should bow to you as the great and almighty whatever title you choose.

Good question. The Rock is a former wrestler and that was his wrestling name. I think he uses that because that is the name people know him by. I don't really know why Queen Latifah chose that name other than maybe it sounded catchier than her real name "Dana Owens". I think she started using that name when she was in the rap music industry. Then there's Prince (the pop star). Prince is actually his birth name.

I often wondered that. I always imagined them ordering a contractor to their house, and the contractor telling his sub contractor, "psst, make sure you do not put those mirrors around his room as he wanted. Then he would never get out the house.:" :) Yes, no conceit in my family, I have it all. :) I wondered about Prince. I also wondered what his parents were thinking. Unless they were thinking people should treat their son as if he were a Prince. So I guess it is the matter of expectations. I mean I could announce myself as ----, descendant of ------ who actually met the King of Romania or something like that.
