I just finished making a batch of toffee to ship later today. It smells so good in the house right now. It is a good thing I have some toffee left over from the other day or I might be tempted to sample some. hehehe Have you made anything lately that has made your house smell wonderful?

The way a house should smell... My Grandmother's house always had a "smell" to it, & it wasn't just ointment. There was always iced tea in the summer, tortillas & beans on the stove etc... Garlic & cumino was in the air... I cook now & there is no such thing as too much garlic in any of my recipes, my secrets R N my spice cabinet... Ginger, Nutmeg, Roasted Garlic when possible, Roasted red peppers, Jalapenos, Avacados, etc... Makes a house smell good 4 no reason... Gotta love it! AC

Toffee sounds wonderful. Can you share your recipe with us? I bake every Wednesday. I'd love to make toffee next week. I think my favorite smell is homemade bread baking in the oven. That and cinnamon rolls.

Ok, I am going to trust you with the secret. hehehe Ok, not really a secret. I have sold a few batches of this on eBay. It is really good. 14 tablespoons butter 1 cup sugar 2 tablespoons cold water 1/2 cup chopped pecans dash salt 1 teaspoon vanilla extract chocolate of your choice Combine butter, water, sugar in pan over medium-high heat. Stir constantly till boiling with wooden spoon. When boiling take the spoon out and insert candy thermometer. Cook until it reaches 300-310 degrees. Remove from heat and stir in chopped pecans. Add a dash of salt and about a teaspoon of vanilla. Pour on greased cookie sheet. Spread out. When set enough that it does not stick to your finger when you touch it sprinkle chocolate chips over the top and let melt. Spread chocolate out. Cool and then break in pieces.

I didn't think so but then the children came home from school yesterday and said ohhhhh what is the yummy smell. I don't know what was so good cause I baked all day. The reason I wasn't Mylotting. LOL I made oatmeal bran muffins, blueberry muffins, chocolate chip cookies and home made pea soup which was AWESOME! LOL So one of those things the children really liked. LOL You can send over any leftover toffee my way though.

I sold 2 more batches last night for a total of 4 batches since this past Saturday. Your list of things you baked sounds yummy! I like pea soup, but I have not made it in forever.
