Have you ever bought a pair of shoes too big for you on purpose?

Ok I admit it I have big feet. I wear a size 8 1/2 or 9. Well I was looking for a pair of brown loafers, something nice to wear with long skirts or jeans. I found the perfect pair but they did not have my size. I tried on a size 10 and they seemed like they would work with socks, so I bought them. I love them, they are so comfortable and with winter I don't mind having to wear the socks at all. They look great with jeans for dress down day at work and also look ok with fancy socks and a long skirt. So have you ever purchased a pair of shoes a size to big on purpose?

I normally wear a size 6 shoe...the ones I have right now are a size 8. My feet swell so badly that even shoes that are 2 sizes too big are still too tight at times. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

This is one of the reasons I buy different sizes. My feet swell also and I would rather wear a comfortable pair that are a bit too big than a pair that are so tight they make my feet hurt.

Since I have wide feet, sometimes I have to buy dress shoes that fit the width, but are a bit too long. Usually those little padded things that you can put in the back of the heel is enough to help. I also buy heels with ankle straps so that it doesn't matter as much if the heel fits closely.

I am the same, wide feet. Certain styles I just don't even try to wear because even in the wide width my toes are pinched together.

I actually did that too just a few weeks ago. I was looking for a comfortable pair of boots that didn't look like I was wearing my grandma's boots and found ones that I really liked. They didn't have my number but they had the next one up and since they were boots and for winter when I always wear thick socks I decided on buying as well. I"m actually quite happy because I can wear my thickest socks with them so my feet are nice and warm:)

I got a few pairs of really thick socks and they are actually too thick to wear with this pair shoes. I like those real thick comfy socks for just around the house when I don't feel like wearing slippers.

I do this all the time.I have trouble with my feet swelling. I also have diabetes, and nerve damage in my feet. This makes very painful feet. So,I love soft socks and big shoes.

That's what I've been telling my daughter. She has diabetes too.

I bought a pair of shoes once that fit great in the store but once I gto home they seemed to be a bit big on me, It was by accident of course. I can't imagine anyone buying the wrong size on purpose unless they like having the extra room in front.

I find womens shoes tend to be small at the toes because most seem to be pointy toes or narrow rounded toe. If a lady has wide feet that makes for some cramped toes.

HI tess, I haven't tried that..I always get the right size.. I am 8 and sometimes 8.5 in other brand and one time, I bought a pair of shoes at ebay which is 8.5 and when I got it, it was quite small to me, so I was thinking, I can be 9 for another shoes! hahahhahaha!

I think too it depends on where the shoes were made. Some coutries sizes are smaller than others. Some of us Americans just have big feet and weren't meant to wear dainty shoes.
