Is anyone here stuck in the rat race? If so, what are you doing to get out?

Right now I am personally stuck in the "Rat Race." I have been working about 55 hours a week at my job at an office. I sit in a cubical all day and get underpaid. I am tired of working for someone else and want to have my money work for me. What are some ideas for getting out of the rat race?

Hi! I think, the only suggestion I can give you is JUST GET OUT OF IT!! Yes, just let go and come out of it. I get that you have decided and have a high self motivation . so what's pulling you back! Get going and I am sure things going to be better soon. Good luck!

I guess I want to be financial free. I still have bills to pay for and that keeps me stuck in the 9-5 job, but I want to get out of it. I have been ready books on real estate for a while now and would love to get started with that, but I don't know where to start. Any suggestions?

First, I hope you are not hoping to fall into sudden money because that is not the way it works. I do love the fact I garner from one of your responces that you know you do not have to jump out of your present employment till you prepare your exit. All that settled, can you answer a few questions? Not to me , but to yourself: (1) How much do you really earn in a month.(That should be easy since you earn a fixed salary) (2) How much do you expend each month( Please remember to include everything e.g entertainment, cinema, drinks etc (3)How much do you have saved? (4)How much can you save monthly. (5)How much should your cushion fund be and how much of that do you already have( Your emergency/cushion fund is usually measured in multiples of your current salary, because its purpose is to give you the necessary bridge in case you are sacked or from the time you voluntarily disengage to the maturity of your new venture) Now things I'd like to know: 1. Have you tried any money-making vemture in the past and with what success. 2.Do you invest in shares and, if not, why not. 3.Are you knowledgeable in any cottage production processes. Let us start from there.

I am in a rat race too, in the cash quadrant I'm still an Employee trying to make a living. I have a small business too, which puts me in the Self-employed quadrant. I'm trying to condition myself what Mr. Kiyosaki's Rich Dad taught him, that I have to think instead of having my emotions control me about getting a paycheck. Somehow I have to think how to make money work for me. But it's hard considering the fact that I too came from a society that creates people who work for money. I am suffering a dilemma like yours. I still have no idea whatsoever...
