Well, the time has come that my children are growing up. I knew this would happen eventually, but I just didn't expect it this soon. They have both outgrown "kiddy" music. I just can't find anything that I agree with them listening to, though. Any suggestions? I don't like the Kids Bop music, because although the words that are "bad" are taken out the theme is still there. My girls LOVE Hannah Montana, but that is only going to last so long. Help!!!!

My kids are about the same age as yours and luckily they still like most kiddie music. My daughter is starting to like Hannah Montana. I made her a little mix CD of some "tame" pop music- she likes Hilary Duff and Kelly Clarkson-- songs that are a few years old. She likes Bon Jovi too, and we "jam" to "Livin' on a Prayer".

I'll have to look into Hilary Duff and Kelly Clarkson. I don't think we've heard music by either of them. That's funny... my girls love Bon Jovi, too. I guess you can tell when I grew up! LOL I actually let the girls listen to a lot of the "hair band" music. I guess the themes aren't always that great, but I love the music so I see it differently maybe.

My kids are 8 and 10. When we outgrew the kiddie stage, we went to soundtracks of movies and tv shows that they like. We do have Disney music, although I see you don't like it, but Shrek and Jimmy Neutron soundtracks too. I don't like Kidz Bop because those kids sound horrible. I hate to say it. My son was given one of the cds and we can't stand it. I don't know your religious background, but from what I understand there is quite a bit Christian music out there in various genres. At least you wouldn't have to worry about the themes. I hope I did not offend you.

OMG i have a long way to go before this happens with my kids, but i dont know what to tell you! i wish i had a suggestion!! I think that weather you like it or not though, your kids will eventually hear the real versions of those songs, at friends houses or even on the radio. . I think the only thing we can do is try to prepare them, and explain to them that it is just music and we dont act, or say some of those things in our day to day lives! lets just hope they dont want to listen to britney or christina, those girls are evil role models. OR WORSE PARIS HILTON. oh my dear. i'm cringing at the thought of my babies growing up even more now! Sorry i couldnt suggest anything better!

I definitely agree that my girls will eventually hear the real versions of those songs. You are right, the best we can do is prepare them for that. Fortunately that doesn't mean I have to purchase that type of music for them. I'm dreading the day they do ask for the "real" music!
