me and my mom went to the other the day to consult about chest pain my mom has been having.. the doctor started to ask the usual questions and all and when the time for her to explain the probable cause of the pain she began using medical terms like "atrophy", breast "ca", "mammo" and others, which of course, my mom who is an entrepreneur and knows nothing about medical terms wouldnt easily comprehend, and because i understand those terms i was going like " uh she means decrease... " "ca.. thats shortcut for cancer" etc... which made me wonder coz during our training as nurse, we were taught to always use the simplest of terms so patients will understand what we are talking about, and normally, isnt it the doctors explain a lot more than nurses, so normally they're the ones divulging a lot of info and if all doctors are like that doctor my mom consulted with, then its not a question if all patients would have a big question mark on top of their heads after seeing a doctor... n_n

Doctors tend to use terms which they themselves can understand only because those terms are very common to them as compared to his patients whom has never heard those terms b4.. Thus, patients has to ask the doctor wat they really mean, b4 they leave the clinic..

which isnt right, coz first of, they are doctors and why would they even think that the patients know anything about what they are talking about when those patients hasnt even studied medicine... so those doctors should at least know what is the simplest terms for those medical jargons... coz they dont look intelligent if they are talking like that towards a patient.. which is why i idolize those doctors who speak in the vernacular and knows the local terms for a medical term... n_n (praise to Dr. Malvar)

haha.. but doctors in clinics normally wil simplify the terms to the patients while doctors in the hospital will tend to give the so-called very general terms which they understands only.. hehe
