HELP! (oil for heater can be return or not?)

Here's the sitch.. Our heater for the house is broken. The repair guys told us instead of using an oil heater, they will replace it an electric one. But here's the thing..my dad just bought gallons of it which cost 700 dollars. It will be okay if it was used but then we never get to use it since the heater wasn't work'n. I told my dad to call the oil company to ask if we can refund the money and return the oil but unfortunately the answer was no. Is there anyway to get our credit back? Thank you so much
