When Do You Study: Morning, Afternoon, Night, Some Other Time?

Being a Grad school student with a full-time job is pretty tough, so I tend to study whenever I can. I like staying up late at night when my wife has gone to bed and studying in the quiet of the house every night, but it's not always enough time so I find myself trying to fit it in where I can. My question for you students, or former students is: When do you (or when did you, if you are a former student) study the best? Were you a morning student or a night student? Quiet environment or lots of ambient noises?

Strangely although I'm generally more of a night person with most things, I find it more effective to study in the mornings. I don't need silence to study, in fact I always find total silence a bit distracting - I start listening out for even the slightest noise lol! I don't like a lot of noise, but just general ambient background noise is what I'm most comfortable with. I can't listen to music or have the TV on when I'm studying. That would be too distracting!

i am a university student right now.during my first semester which was last year i used to study from 12 midnight until 6 am everyday.this is because all my classes were in the afternoon.so i can sleep in the morning.besides i found out you can study better in the middle of night. that time all my roomates would be sleeping.so i do not have any distractions which make me could not focus on my studies.i tried studying in the day time.but i would easily get distracted with other things.i also do not know why. all my friends adviced me it is not healthy to force yourself to study like that.sometimes if i had the exam at 8 am i would straight run to the class without sleeping.i only sleep after i finish the exam.that time i had some side effects too.sometimes i felt dizzy and do not realize what i am really doing actually. but finally my hardwork really paid off.i was the best student in my programme.but i am not sure whether i can do that again during this semester.now i have classes from morning till night everyday.my timetable is very full. when i go back after the classes i am already very tired.so i would sleep early so that i can wake up in the morning.i hate morning classes.i hardly can wake up very early.my exams are coming soon. i do not know when i will have the time to study.even during weekends also i am very busy with other activities.my mid semester break is coming soon.i guess that is the only chance for me to study.maybe i will try studying the maximum hours i can.

i can't deny that the quietness of midnight is the good environment for study.but as our school limit our time to sleep ,we are forced to sleep before 11o'clock at night.how miserable.i 've just into the university this semester.and i find it far more boring from what i have imagined.except for the school activities,we can just go shopping ,and reading in the library.the rest time is for study.the same feeling i have is that it's too noisy to study in the dormitory. but i don't think it's bad to have moring classes.some period of time in the moring is good for study because we have clear minds. getting more sleep ,i think, will benefit you and help improve your efficiency. Good luck with your exams.

I study whenever I get the chance and whenever I know I have a lot of things on my hands that I should be doing. Somestimes I take study breaks between classes because it makes my work load easier, sometimes I study only at night to get away from the computer and the boredom of life. It all depends. And, sometimes I need quiet, other times it doesn't really bother me.

I admire of you that you can learn everytime. When i was a senior high school student,i studied all the time from i got up till i went to bed at nearly 12o'clock.sometimes will past 12o'clock.I prefer to study at night with the quiet environment. Now i am an undergraduate,in university.I only have little class every day.so i have lots of time to spend my time to do what ever i like.sometimes i study, sometimes i only play computer.i have no goal to achieve.I am so perplexed.I want to use the free time to learn more things.

as a university student it is really hard to go to bed at night for the reason that your classmaates cannot come back and they will wake up you if you are asleep at that time.so i like to study at night.what's more at night my mind is always clear.

usually after noon till dark because it when i feel relax. unlike daytime, there are other tasks that bothers me, for me to get done. when early in the morning, my brain doesn't work in early hours of the day. hehehe.. I can't concentrate when there's people around me, I'm easily disturb actually so i make sure I have the soothing environment before studying.

I have experinced that I study very well in early mornings.. But the problem is I am hell very moody person so can't concentrate on studies that well!! The fact is I can study very very well if I feel like to..!! If I have a mood to study then nobody can disturbe me. I have no problem with nosie then..!! But it happens very rarely..!! So I basically try to study at nights because its winters here and its almost next to impossible for me to get up early in morning to study. Its better if you have a quite environment around you while you study. As I get distracted very easily. Again at night in winters its very cold outside bed and u can't study in bed because if you do then you only end up feeling sleepy and then even 2 cups of coffee can't help you!!! SO here I can't even study at nights too .. so I try to finish my studies in day only.. whenever I feel like. Theres no fixed time for me study. I know its bad and I am still working on it to get serious for my studies!!! :)

I actually turned down the offer of an office at my university, because I prefer to study in the lab room where there are students/postdocs/professors coming through and toying with experiments, conversing, etc, because I study so much better in that environment than I would in a quiet room by myself. It's kind of strange, but its always been so for me; when at home, I study with the tv or radio on constantly. I can't study in libraries or other quiet environments; I used to work in a library, and while the job itself was great, I was incredibly inefficient, and I ended up leaving the job after I told my boss that I just can't work when its so quiet. I don't know what it is, but I always need lots of ambient noises to get anything done. And in answer to "morning student or night student", I actually tend to stay up to 6/7 AM when a lot of people are beginning their day, and sleep through a good part of the "day", so I think night student is the only reasonable answer to that question, for me.

I too work full time and am also studying. However, I find that my best work is both early morning (6am ish), and after 11pm (I don't tend to sleep much). I do also study in my lunch break, and directly after work, but the things I produce at those times don't seem as good at the things that I produce early morning and late at night.

I prefer studying at night it is more relaxing. If you have time in the morning try to review what you read last night. Try it it works for me

I have made a lot of experiments with myself in order to see in what short period of time I can remember the most. The result is Night. I have research and found that when you study during the night and then go to bed, you have greater chance to remember what you have studding. The time you are sleeping your brain actually is processing the information you have learn today and is deleting the unimportant facts. I can tell you from my own experience that the best way to study is evening hours. I have tried to study during break time at work, but it is not working. If you want to have great success of studing try to place yourself in a quiet enviroment because ther is not any noise to distrack you.

hello. wow, i am a student now and i am already a mom too. i can only study at home when my one year old son is already sleeping, that is at night. butthen since it is night, i cannot keep up with the yawning and being sleepy and the availability of the bed in my sight, hehehe. so i set the alarm at 5am and study again, i usually sleep at 11pm or 11:30pm, so my sleep is really not enough. i have a stright class in the morning from 7am until 12noon with a 30minutes break in between. what i usually do is, i study after lunch and go to library for about an hour or two to study before i go home. that really helps me a lot. with my situation now, it is really had for me to study. i really need to steal time to study.

I try to study a week before of the said date. But If i can't finish it in a week, i try too finish it until the night before the said date. I refrain from studying on the day itself because that's a recipe for disaster. They say it is a good routine for studying because as you go along the exam, the subject is still fresh in their minds. But the consequence of this is that they will easily forget it right after the exam. And they don't know that this style of studying is very prone in forgetting the subject that you had studied at once...

As a student,I used to study early in the morning because I found out that I can easily understand what I have study in this time....why????because,early in the morning, your mind is unstressed that can easily accepts those what you studied...unlike if you study in the evening before sleeping. after you wake up,there's a tendency that you will forget what you are studying.
