It seems that Dannon Activia has become the latest target of a lawsuit brought about because the product did not deliver what it promised. It has been touted as a probiotic with the capability of Improving the environment in the stomach which makes for a better feeling and better health. A woman has come forward to dispute the advantages of Activia, and begun a class-action lawsuit against the company. This is yet another case dealing with "truth in advertising." I firmly believe that if a product does not deliver what it promises, the parent company should look to be sued. This product sells for 30% more than comparable products of the same type, so nobody wants to shell out extra money thinking they are getting health benefits when that is patently untrue. Do you use this product? What are your thoughts on "truth in advertising?"

We bought the activia once because I had a coupon and it was gross! Both my hubby and I do eat yogurt, but only Breyers because that is one of the few brans that does not over load its product with sugar, hydrogenated oils and other horrible un-pronounceable ingredients (plus they make it with the Omaga 3/DHA option). Activia is not a miracle product, they have the same ingredients as other yogurts have. Eating any yogurt or anything with the active ingredients added (like the cheese or cottage cheese) is good for your digestive tract. Personally, it is up to the consumer to do all the research. But the product SHOULD deliver what is claimed on the box.

Of course, sedel, everyone has a different preference when it comes to taste, but I respectfully disagree that the consumer should do the research on the millions of products that we purchase on a daily basis. Whatever happened to the work ethic that America used to have where a company was proud to stand behind their product?

I always thought all this probiotic additives to yogurts was a bunch of huwey to begin with...I do love yogurt but have a real hard time trying to find any kind of yogurt without this additive..it's not just Dannon that has this additive, but La yogurt as well. When I first saw the yogurts my initial reaction was...like how really safe is it?? To me I think it's just a plain scam to target people to think they are eating something more beneficial, when the only ones profiting from it is the company itself

I won't disagree with you on that, pyewacket! People are so gullible and are quick to try almost any new product that comes on the market. They would be much better off if they would just stick to a healthy diet.

I don't use this product and never would. If I want probiotics, I go to a health food store and buy acidophilus. Although, I'm not sure how this woman would know the product actually wasn't working. I'm not certain how she would prove it had anything to do with the product (her not feeling better)

I'm not familiar with all the details of the case, cblackink, but the woman evidently had enough grounds for an attorney to take on her case. We shall wait and see.

Seems to me that if folks will vote for Hilary and Barak whilst Dennis gets kicked from debates, those folks will buy what they're told. Including "wiretapping" for and the notion that "National Security" is anything the Govt doesn't want to reveal. Danon are in good company, why shouldn't upmarket yogurt be called activia? And lots of folks feel better when they pay more!! lol

I'm not sure just how Hillary, Barack, or Dennis figure into this discussion, nuffsed, but No matter which name a product flies under, it should deliver what it promises.

My husband thinks they made the whole thing up, that it is the actual active bacterial content under a different name. Besides I do not like Damon Activia. Here in Canada we have those people in green doing belly dances, part of the evil plan to make us all become new agers. It also has more sugar than the other brands. I am looking for a yogurt that is not only sugar free but articial sweetener free.
