Re: MyLot pay-outs, do we have the option to donate our earnings to charity?

Hello All, Would anyone else like for MyLot to provide the option of directly donating our earnings to our favorite charity? I have never taken a pay-out from MyLot. My earings have continued to roll over month after month. This is largely because I have never linked my MyLot account with a Pay-Pal account. There are reasons why I have not done so, though those reasons are not the point of this discussion. I would really appreciate having the option to directly gift my earings to my favorite charity. What about you? Is this something that MyLot might wish to consider? Or, am I out of the loop, and this is an existing option that I am unawar of?

Good morning LadyLuna, If I were you I would find out if your favorite charity has a paypal option for payment and I bet they do, then I would just forward that money to them when you deem necessary. I would think for this type of community that most folks that post here need the extra few dollars a month. For those that do not, and quite a few of my friends do not that is a wonderful option. I really think you can do it by acquiring the pay pal address of your organization then when you request payment have it paid out into it.

Hello Angelwhispers, Hmmm yes, it does seem as though providing MyLot with the Paypal account number for a favorite charity would be a feasible work around. Though, doesn't MyLot require that the identity of the Paypal member match the identitiy of the MyLot member? Perhaps their is a way of requesting an 'exception' or 'waiver' of sorts, which would allow the charitable PayPal account info in lieu of the members own.

"Though, doesn't MyLot require that the identity of the Paypal member match the identitiy of the MyLot member?" Luna thats a good question. One I would have to scour the TOS for. I know for a few of my online ventures, the requirement is that it is only a verified pay pal address. I suppose reading the tos is where to start.

It is a great idea for people who are like you. How about transfer your earnings to me voluntary since you do not need the money anyway. I need the money.

Hello Titaniumsoul, Would that I could, my friend. I'm having a tough enough time figuring out how to allocate the funds to a recognized charitable organization, without having to link to a Paypal account. So, what's the word on the dream job hunt?

That's great news, Titaniumsoul. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Was the interview for a position that REALLY want? In other words, is the position really your dream job? I sure hope so!

My dear Ladyluna, you can donate your earnings here in this site or any other site for that matter, provided you follow the following: 1. The receiver organization should have paypal account, so that it can be transferred easily. 2. YOu should get the bank account number of the receiving organization so that from paypal you can transfer the funds to your account in US (free of charge) and send a draft or cheque to charity. It is a good idea that you want to contribute to chartiy. May your tribe grow?

I think it may be good idea. I work with one non for profit in my area, so I always donate locally for homeless dogs and cats. I think you can ask any non for profits in your area, ask them to open an account and transfer money directly to them... Many options I think....

Hello Polachicago, Thanks for the tip. Yes, I think that I'll do just that. The only possible glitch is if MyLot will not transfer to an account held by other than the member. Which I hope is not the case!

Thanks, will do. First, I'll need to determine which of my favorite charities accpets via Paypal. Then I'll give this a shot, and report back here. I really appreciate all the helpful feedback. Thanks again!

I don't think such an option exists, my lady. Perhaps you can grab a paypal account, link it, withdraw your earnings then donate it to a charity of your choice? Though more inconvenient, you can at least ensure that the money indeed goes to charity and there is no jiggery pokery behind the scenes.:P

Greetings oh wizardly one, I've not seen much of you lately. Perhaps you've been a busy wizard. Though, in all fairness, it may just be that I've not been online as much lately. Either way, it's nice to hear from you. I hope that all is well in your kingdom. I love your "jiggery pokery" comment. I'm not sure that I've ever heard that particular phrase. Though it certainly makes the point. And, a fine point it is! Yes, I agree that it would be easier to link the two accounts, then transfer to a charitable third party. Though, the fewer on-line organizations that have access to our personal account information the better, eh? Thanks for stopping by. I'll take the time before the weekend to drop by your postings to see what's new in your kingdom. Until then, my friend!

It’s a great idea in fact, ladyluna, and I am all for it. I can clearly understand the reasons why you (or anybody) won’t like to link Mylot Account with PayPal account. I do not see any clause in mylot’s “Terms of Use Agreement” or “FAQ” that prohibits providing a different email address for payment than what you registered your account with Mylot, i.e. the email addresses with which you registered with Mylot and Paypal can be different. Refer to: Clause 16, for ‘payment’ terms in Mylot’s “Terms of Use Agreement”: http://www.mylot.com/o/terms.aspx FAQ, chapter 6, under “What is a PayPal email?”: “ It may be the same email address that you gave myLot when you signed up, or ‘it may be a different email address’, but it is the email address that you supplied PayPal when you registered.” http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq6.aspx But, to be on safe side, it’s always good to ask directly, especially given the fact that Mylot admin frequently changes terms and conditions, so much so that it’s difficult to keep track :-)

Hello Kamran, Thanks for the support and for taking the time to refer to the T.O.S. I also referred to the user agreement and found no direct prohibition. Though as you say, it's best to ask directly. I'll report back here with the results.

Hello TerryZ, I see that you made your way back. The 'sleepy puppy' campaign was really very sweet. Isn't it nice that our friends let us know how appreciated we are? Welcome home! I'm glad that others share my enthusiasm for the charitable option. I'm going to give it a go, and I'll report back to y'all. Thanks for your support!

That sounds like a great idea. Honestly I would prefer to just get the payout on my paypal account, but people I know will be willing to donate directly. I do support a lot of charities offline in real life though!

There is a problem, there are so many charities that some will get lots, and others hardly any. I would think it would be better if you donating your earnings to a local charity in your city or town or country where they can do the most help. If you link your myLot payout with Paypal, maybe you could search for a charity that accepts payout with Paypal.

Here I go again, assuming that because something is logical it therefore exists, but I truly do not see why you wouldn't be able to supply any paypal address you want, so that if you don't have a PayPal account you could substitute that of your favorite charity or if you have more than one, just rotate them, as surely we are allowed to change the designated recipient address prior to each payout. Of course, I am of the opinion that everyone who can should have a PayPal address, and if you set one up for yourself, then with a few keystrokes you could route the money you received appropriate notations. That seem preferable to me because then all of your accounting records for taxes and that sort of thing would be in one place. Out of the loop? Not exactly, as one paid-to-write site paid me unexpectedly before I had thought of setting up my earnings preferences, and they defaulted to their own favorite charity. Hah! I wasn't quick enough on that one. But as far as electronic banking goes, you may be lagging a bit, and truly, I should like to invite you to officially enter the 21st century any time you feel you are ready! I still have a few close friends and family who haven't done it yet, but I cannot fathom why.

Hello Drannhh, This thread has been very enlightening. I suspect that the most appropriate course of action is to e-mail the MyLot admins, and ask if I can provide a Paypal account other than my own. I do have a PayPal account. Though it has long been dormant. As I indicated in the original post, the reasons why I have not linked my MyLot account to a PayPal account are not really relevant. It is my personal preference to not link the two, and that's not going to change. If someone else chooses to use Paypal, that is their choice. And, I would never wish to discourage them.

Yes, there are many valid reasons why some people would prefer not to use PayPal. Glad to know you at least tried it, though, That way you have made an informed choice. Soon, perhaps we will see a notice from PayPal explaining that charitable donations are an option for payment here and then I shall smile and think of you!

I dont think there is any such option, but now that you talk about it, it would be a nice one if they ever add it. People have all sorts of reasons to hold back their pay pal account from mylot, and donation to charity would be a nice way to offload that money. It's also quite nice to know that you are continuing on at Mylot in spite of having no means to liquidate your earnings.

Hello Try32ends, I'm glad that you share my enthusiasm for a charitable gifting option. It's also nice to learn that I may not the only one who has refrained from linking the two sites. I suspect that you're right about there being many different reasons why folks might not wish for their paypal & Mylot accounts interact. As for posting in spite of payment -- this is a great community!!! Payment or no payment, I very much enjoy this site, and its members. There's no turning back now, eh?

i have no interest in the earnings as it is insignificant towards any earnings that i make so i am 100% behind you and would not hesitate to donate to a worthwhile charity. if you can get it organised, count me in!

Since I have no clue how a paypal account works I have not received a payout either. The charity thing sounds really nice Dear Lady! Right now the whole paypal thing is out of order according to a friend of mine who does something else on the net and has such an account. He cannot get to his money at all. Shalom~Adoniah

Hello Adoniah, There can be any number of reasons why one might not be able to access their PayPal account. Though I would certainly not preclude a PayPal system wide glitch. However, if that is the case, I'm confident that that would be remedied with lightning speed, as access to the system is PayPal's bread and butter. I'm going to try the option that has been suggested in this thread, and I will report back on how it goes. Thanks! I'm glad to hear that so many are supportive of this idea.

Hello Choochy, If I might ask: How did you discover that your favorite charity accepts donations via Paypal? Also, if a charity accepts donations via Paypal, then isn't it reasonable to provide MyLot with the Paypal account number associated with that charity? Thanks for the helpful info, Choochy!

i guess if mylot were to add every single option for all charities hun it would get too much and too confusing! Perhaps also mylot would get lumped with any paypal charges? im not sure hun. i looked up my charity on the internet and they had a paypal button on their site for donations hun, have you looked yours up on the net?

If you really want to donate your MyLot earnings to charity, just claim the money thorugh paypal or e-Gold or whateer, and then do with it as you please, once you hae aquired the money. If there is a reason why you have not done this, why not get a new paypal account JUST FOR MYLOT, and have another one for your regular use.
