Okay guys, need your help. I need to launder a man's white shirt that has a terrible ink stain on the pocket. Hit me with what has worked for you in the past! Thanks so much!

the only thing I have used with any success was hair spray on an ink stain - since you do not want the ink dripping down the rest of the shirt - make sure to blot the hairspray after you apply it, and put a piece of cardboard inside the pocket so the stain does not rinse through to the other side.

Hairspray on the stain has been known to break it up and make it easier to clean. Also, since it's a white shirt, maybe bleach would help? The biggest thing for me with stain removal is to be sure you don't put the item in the dryer until you know the stain is gone. I even made up a magnet for the washer to stop my husband from putting things in the dryer if there are stained items instead. There's one for stained items and one for hang dry items. It has saved us from ruining clothes... after some other items were ruined, sadly. Good luck!

I did manage to get ink out once using lemon , if I remember correctly ... Just cut the lemon and rub it on the spot and let stand for about 29 minutes .. Then soak in water and then wash ... I hope this is what I used , it was along time ago , GOOD LUCK !!! Let us know how you make out ...

Long ago I worked a sewing factory. We made military uniforms and because the camo varied we had to stamp numbers onto the individual pieces to keep the ones that went together, together. If our stampers went screwy and didn't change numbers we had to go back and you guessed it remove the ink. What did we use...hairspray! Works great! Spray and rub, spray and rub helps to have something underneath to "catch" the stain like a washcloth or something.

Hair spray will remove ink or permanant markers. We used to have to use them on our aprons we had for work.
