Is peace and non-violence outdated concepts?

Well if you look at a world prespective, then I definitely agree that peace and non-violence are outdated concepts!!! The very word peace is out of the minds of people. Countries are competing against each other in building nuclear weapons, buying heavy machinery and arsenal, showing their strength and combat in air, water and land. On-violence has taken back stage with evolving technology and various forms of discrimination and hatred policies

Humans, by nature, are a violent species, so non-violence and peace are at odds with our very inner being. When faced with a peaceful situation, a lot of people will try and make a conflict. It makes them feel more alive. Peace is equated with sitting still, and I guess we see our lives as so short that we just can't let ourselves slow down. We thrive on conflict, whether it be our own or that of others. Just look at gossip magazines. The ones that sell the best are the ones that report about actor feuds and divorces and other such turmoil. The news is the same way.

Humans, by nature, are not a violent species. There is no scientific evidence which proves this theory. There is scientific evidence that violence, greed, bigotry and all the rest stems from the environment in which you live and we're brought up in. Just look at, for instance, the Amish culture where violence is almost non-existent. If the cornerstone of all culture was based on sharing, cooperation, compassion and seeing the human race as one species striving for development, the world would be a very different place. If people are brought up in a culture with celebrities, material values, money and the ability to gain over someone else, separation through imaginary borders etc etc, there is no hope that so called "peace" can properly be attained. When people become observers and become aware of the effect each of us has on our overall perceptions, every human will realize that we created this mess, and we can just as easily change it. We are the problem and we are also the solution. :)
